Because technically everything is brainwashing if it convinces you that life has meaning beyond what pleases us. I figure that our lives can only seem purposeful if we lie to ourselves. Religion, art, family, politics, drugs. They serve no other purpose but to dispense endorphins, and it's part of our instincts to desperately seek ways of raising our serotonin level. However, the more we learn, the harder it gets. If religious people have an easier time then why shouldn't we just leave them alone? Even if they turn America into a theocracy, at least we'll have something to fight for (giving us another outlet for more endorphins).

A proper exposure to God and religion can help to counteract the real brainwashing that popular culture is constantly throwing at all of us in books, movies, TV, songs, advertisements, and even video games.

Religion runs a distant second to the power of brainwashing of popular culture.

Popular culture is constantly bombarding us with intensive, not-so-forcible indoctrination, aimed at setting up worldly convictions and attitudes.

Popular culture comes at us from all directions including books, movies, TV, songs, advertisements, video games and even the Internet.

A few of the these immoral values include:
- Lust and Sex (outside of marriage)
- A disrespect for God and religion
- A disrespect for lawful authority
- A disrespect for our human dignity
- Envy, greed and consumerism
- Anger and Violence
- Drugs including smoking and alcohol
- Vanity, outside is more important than inside
- Prejudice and hate

I think that if we expose our children to all this immorality without the moral anchor of God and religion "until they can come to a conclusion of their own" then we would be unwise, irresponsible, and frequently too late.

With love in Christ.

Because it is the only form of brainwashing specifically meant to manipulate you, and screw your eighty to one hundred years on earth. All the other forms of brainwashing are not performed so the brainwasher gains something, with the only exception of drugs, but that is different. Drug dealers are interested in selling the drugs, and getting the money. It's just business (illegal and immoral, but business). Religion is ONLY about gaining all sorts of influences on you and society.

BTW, didn't I answer something similar yesterday?

All religion is imaginary, everything else is
concrete i.e see, feel , touch. Which means
ther is a scope to seek proof. But in religion
you have no scpoe to seek proof, so the
brainwashing is a matter of belief , a dogma.

That is an interesting premise, but it relies heavily on the assumption that I as an Atheist place no value on life. If we allow the Christian right to make laws unhindered, they will surely make laws that limit my access to things that trigger those endorphins. I will not allow that.

Well, that's kind of a good point. I know that human existence has no point whatsoever and we will all be gone in a few thousand years, so why waste my time arguing with religious fanatics? I guess it's a bad habit at this point...

It is brainwashing when you are told that if you do not believe in something then your going to spend a eterenity in a bad place, thats a threat and a form of brain washing. God doesnt threaten us he loves us so i try to ignore the ones who go around screaming that i am going to hell because i love God and believe in reincarnation. I cant go to church around here to worship God because all the churches around here are baptist churches, no room for freedom of thinking there

What is wrong with brain washing. It only gets rid of stinking thinking. That is good isn't it?

Being washed in the Word of God is Good. Other types of religious brain training can be evil. It is discerned by it's fruit. The fruit of the Holy Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, truth, etc... The destructive fruit is hate, fear, impatience, lies, etc...

So, what is the fruit produced from ones brain washing / training?

Mostly because of your bad logic, ignorance and general stupidity, combined with the unwarranted arrogance. But the childish behavior and shoddy morality play into it as well.
