No, I did not get a totalgym. But.............read on.........

Doing exercise, in general, is good for the body.

That said, I like to go to gyms because it is motivating. I see nice bodies around me and I secretly wish to be like 'them'. That keeps me going there everyday. Getting there is half the fun.

Also, a quick glance once in a while at the opposite gender also makes it soooooooo interesting. and.......if that person works out next to your machine, that 30 minutes or 60 minutes goes fast.

You miss that in home gyms. In my estimation, this is a big negative. You will miss making friends, meeting people with common interest. You miss variety of exercises - anywhere from floor exercises, a whole slew of cardio machines, a wide choice of weight lifting machines, swimming, playing squash etc... are all good for you because you work different muscles with each and every activity. You do not get that with a home gym.

For anyone to continue with workouts, motivation is the key. I have been doing it for the 15 years and of course the annual fee is a reasonable amount compared to getting a one-time expense of a home gym but still, I would say it is not worth buying one and be bored with the routine. I bet you bottom dollar, you will stop the workout after the initial excitement dies down from the new toy.

I vote for signing up for a membership in your favorite gym.

The only person that I'd recommend getting one of those is someone who is an exercise person already, and just can't get to the exercise club enough.

If you're not an exercise person now then I can bet (10-1 odds) that this thing will be gathering dust before the last payment.

You'll be far ahead to join a club (local YMCAs are really inexpensive) and then take classes as part of your routine. That way you'll make friends w/ people who will encourage you to exercise.

Beyond that, I'd look for used exercise stuff that people bought, and never used except as a clothes tree instead of buying new.

Hi Friend..

I've a Gym set up in my Home.. I used that for more than 2years.. But the problem is we need some one 2 help/assist.. otherwise we gets bored and tired easily.. So I shifted back to Gym.. I wont prefer it for anyone..

But still U want 2 get one, it's ok.. takecare of these things...

1) The Gym unit should have provision for working out with each & every major muscle group.. like: Shoulders, Deltoids, Biceps,Triceps,Forearms,Pectorals/Chest,Lats,Upper & Lower Back muscles, Abs, obliques, Thighs, Halmstrings, calves etc..

2) There should be atleast 1 alternative method of workout for each major muscle groups..

3) There should be provission for increase resistance(adding weight) It should be atleast up to 100Kg for Thighs, 70-80Kg for chest, lats, calves, 30-40Kg for Arms, shoulders etc.

4) It should be durable, compact, perfectly alligned and comfortable.

These kind of machines costs around 500-600$ normally..

TakeCare, Be Healthy.
