Mandatory, it could be exchanged for military duty or vice versa. Something organised by the government and employers. American loses weight by working on setting up farms, building wells, shelter etc, learns some thing valuable about how unimportant the **** he eats really is. The African, works in an American job, actually earns something that might enable him to send his family to school, maybe even give him an idea for setting up a business?

In response to the insult of 'dumbass Europeans', it is tragic this person cannot discover a better response.
As a European, (Irish), I can only say that we seem to be going the American way.
In the UK, where I live, people are beginning to become hugely overweight.
So perhaps, from a sense of fair-play the question should apply here also.
