Actually, I don't believe so!

The common cold is caused by a mulititude of viruses. The way we eventually get over having a virus is that we build up an immunity to it. Then when we're exposed to it again, we already have the antibodies for that particular virus in our system and we can never get it again.

That's what immunizations are, actually...a small amount of a virus, such as measles, that cause our bodies to form antibodies so that when we're exposed to the "real thing" we don't get sick from it.

The problem with colds is that they're caused by SO MANY viruses that immunizing against them...or even finding and labeling them all...is impossible.

Unfortunately, if someone in your family has another cold, they're going to pass it through the family yet again.

Hope you all feel better soon!

I'm no doctor...but I work with children and I feel that we are always bouncing colds off each other. Before working with children..I was fine..and now..my family labels me the "sickly child" because I'm always sick. I'm always getting colds and they seem to last forever. 2-3 wks even. And yes..I've had it when I thought I was getting better and then I just get worse. Being that your child is 31/2 yrs old..she's going to catch colds often because kids dont take precautions such as washing their hands after wiping their noses, etc.. So, it's not unheard of that your child is sick again. But even though I get colds often..If it gets too bad or too long..I still go to the doctors (even though most of the time he just tells me to get cold medicine) You just never know if it turns into a sinus infection or pneumonia. I go to the doctors for peace of mind..better safe than sorry.

Yes. Colds are spread by contact. Wipe things down with rubbing alcohol like the doorknobs, steering wheel of the car and the phone. Wash hands frequently. Good luck
