you will need to pull your own credit report. as long as there's no annual fees keep the card open. it improves your credit score because you are having established credit.

Get all three of your credit reports for free once a year from annualcreditreport.com. The reports will show you not only all your open and active accounts, including credit cards and loans, but will also show you your old closed accounts. If you have any negative items on the report such as late payments, bankruptcy, chargeoffs, etc those will be shown on the report as well.

Go to Freecreditreport .com and fill in the information asked (be careful as they are trying to sell you your free report.)
On this sight there are links to all 3 major credit reporting agencies. You can see all 3 now or just one (I suggest only one as you can do it only once per year per company for free.) Your entire credit history going back 7 years will be there.
Look under active accounts. This will show you what is active (I found out about a card that was on the wrong report.)
If you look at just one report that saves you the other 2 to look at in a few months for free.

the only way to use credit cards. is to actually USE THEM. get one for say six month interest free, save all your money in internet banking at a rate of about 4.60 and then when the moron credit company wish your payment, pay it off, let the credit companes always carry the debt. it is the only way to do it.; Mind you if you hjave no money. do not use a card, and id you do, just use it on the day of the billing so you get seven weeks to save to pay it off. Never never ever ever pay flaming interest. otherwise you are a mug.

Get your credit report from Experian.
This will show which accounts are active and it also gives you contact details for the financial organisations you are linked to.
