A polyp is usually nothing more than a growth on the inside of your body. Somewhat like a mole or a skin tab. However, sometimes polyps are precursers to cancer, so your doctor should be looking at them closely to see what they are made up of!

Referring to the first answer, they are not always in the nasal passage - another common place is the reproductive area. Its a little cyst or growth that usually is harmless. Occasionally they can have cells that aren't good, so usually once removed they will be tested at the lab to make sure they're benign.
