Then, approach casually with confidence and say :
"Hi, my name is Teresachiqita, what's yours?"

Show your best smile and ask :

"Would you like to join me for coffee/beer/walk, because my horoscope required this today."

When i was single and even now that i am not i smile at everyone and say hi, my husband thinks i am nuts because i say hi to street walkers too, why not they are people too...if you see someone that interests you just flash a big smile and say hi, wow the weather sure is nice for this time of year, or if you are in the mall, hey where is the best place to get coffee here would you know anything to get the convo going, try it you may meet your dream guy:)

It all comes in time. I had the same problem - for me it stemmed from my huge body issues. When I grew and became more comfortable with myself I was able to approach more guys and even get up the courage to ask them out or to dance.
