I don't think 'feared' is the right word here. Muslims believe that God has told them - both genders - to dress in a 'modest' way. They interpret that to be a way that doesn't provoke sexual thoughts in others. Unfortunately there is much more stress given to how a woman ought to dress 'modestly' than a man, but the rule exists for both genders.

Female sexuality is not feared. It is the overt display of sexuality (male or female) in general that is not considered modest and appropriate.
There you go. A Muslim did answer your question. Now where are my ten points....LOL!!!

Because only a woman could ruin the entire existence of humanity by just eating an apple.

How can you make such a claim sister?
Muslims honor women and do not wish them to be used by men for sexual purposes. Would you honor a woman who is the most free in the West, who perhaps dances naked in front of ogling men? Would you honor a woman who would sleep with any and every man who would offer to sleep with her. Is she not using her freedom to do what she wants with her body? Even in the West such women are not looked up to, except perhaps some silly teens.
Islam teaches that women are the height of dignity of all mankind as they represent the mothers of mankind. Thanks to women we have men! and thanks to men, women are created.
Would you ever see Bill Clinton or George Bush skimpily clad, in a press conference? THINK.. WHY NOT? Because it would humiliate them as persons. Dressing as a cat or a monkey does not honor us but dishonors us.
Muslims understand this very well. In the old days before Islam, in Arabia, women, slaves and children did not wear anything on their head to show their lower status. Arab men always wore a sheet on their head to protect from the sun and also as a sign of their status in their community. Higher the status, the more special was their head covering. When Islam came, all FREE Arab males wore a head covering, which they still do. Women were in many cases not considered worthy to wear a head covering and their value was determined by the beauty of their hair.
Even today, you will see the Arab girls and women dance, displaying their hair, as was the custom in the past. Islam brought dignity to women by having them cover their hair and become equal to men. It is an irony that most men have taken off their hats in the recent century or so, if not all men wore a hat or a crown if they were royalty.
Covering your face did not originate per the laws of Islam, but from Pre-Islamic Persian and Roman culture, where women of high status (who would in many cases be very beautiful) would cover their faces to avoid unwarranted attention by lesser men. A muslim woman does not have to cover her face to meet the religious requirements, but has to cover her head and be equal to the men in a Muslim society where every male covers their head too!!
So, it all depends on how you see things.
Lastly if a male and a female have sex, it is the female who has to become pregnant. THEN it is her burden to either kill the fetus or to deliver it live. Females getting pregnant is a natural phenomenon in all creatures. It is only in this age that contraceptives have come about and allowed women to have partial freedom (partial, as many still get pregnant inspite of using contraceptives) to experiment in the area of sexuality.
It is also an irony that women are much more susceptible to acquiring STDs as compared to men. Based on all these FACTS, Islam teaches that men and women be kept separated until men are READY TO COMMIT to their would be wives in front of an audience and put a lot of money up front when making the commitment, as men have more benefits in breaking it off than women, who tend to be more loyal and expect men that they remain loyal to them in the long run.
I and many of my cousins would stand up in respect for my mom, when she enters the room, as she is a seen as the mother of Muslims. We respect my father similarly as well. It is a matter of how you look at things from afar. We respect and honor our women. We just can not bear it to see someone come abuse our womenfolk and let them carry their baby or deal with that problem, while they float away to impregnate some other woman. If he is a married man, our rules are to kill such a man who is so irresponsible as to impregnate a woman who is unmarried without making a commitment to her.
I hope this makes sense.
