You are going to get many people on here, who are tough on a forum tell you that you are wrong for asking this. The truth is, that this war in Iraq has been a huge problem. Not a failure mind you, but not a success by any means. The problem is that we are not fighting a conventional war with this one, yet we are still trying to do so. This new battle is in the minds of people. You cannot kill and idea. Most of the terrorists are trained since birth, or early maturity. They are trained that the west is horrible and should die. A Jihad or (holy war) does not actually mean, a war against someone. Its literal translation is a "struggle with ones inner spirit". These fanatics have changed that meaning to actual war, and the media has helped them run with it.
The problem with the war in Iraq is just that... its in Iraq. A land that we don't fully understand with cultures so stark from ours, that we are offending people just by being there. Now sure it was good to get Sadam out, no one is disputing that, but how we did it was what pissed off the rest of the world. World opinion and support are what we need today. We can't pretend to run around and police the world without pissing some people off. How would you like it if I came into your house and told you to stop doing something that you have done for generations, however odd to me it was. Then if I were to threaten violence on you or even kill one of your family members because of it. Would you understand? would you be ok with it? Of course not.
I am not saying that terrorism is ok, obviously its the opposite. But what we need to do is get to the root of this issue. Get to the cause of the poison and find the antidote. Until we do this, there will be nothing but death in the middle east, with little to no progress. They don't want a western American for a country... yet that's exactly what we are trying to make for them. Maybe we should listen more to some of them before we kill them.
I wont place most of the Blame on our president even though I think him a moron. The blame is shared on this entire country. We elect him, therefore we back his decisions since we put him in a position to make them. Such is life. If people don't like what is going on, instead of bitching every chance you get, complain to the right people and get involved.
Bottom line is that NO white power has ever had control of the middle east, and never will. History has taught us nothing if we think this war will be over in even 10 years. The body's will pile up, and the hate will grow. On both sides. Until one day we realize that instead of this path, why not choose another more peace full one. Until then, God will continue to cry, and the dead from this conflict, will continue to shake their heads at us in shame.

He took out Saddam and didn't have enough troops to fill the power vacuum. This resulted in all sides going out to get revenge for past wrongs. Then the real terrorist showed up and taught the warring tribes how to really fight and infiltrate govt institutions and take them over from the inside. Now we are in the middle of a civil war where we are just in every bodies way. The only way to leave Iraq with any honor at all is to break Iraq into 3 separate countries. this should stop the fighting for a while. They will be too busy rebuilding there new countries. This is not perfect by any stretch there will be alot of ethnic cleansing and probably border and resource skirmish's but it's better than an all out civil war we got now.

The problem is not new, it is old and reflects the US's attempt to subjugate other countries. The people are rebelling against us and we are still attempting to force both our power and our political objectives on people that are not ready to accept the civic responsibility of a democracy. You can take books into the jungle and watch people burn them for firewood but that doesn't help. Our consistent attitude has been trying to force our way on other nations and we didn't do well in Korea, or VietNam and again, sadly, we will fail in Iraq....we need to understand the people first, then modify our policies to the needs and good of those people. We are more often heavy-handed than adept at political problems. The situation with North Korea should be left to China....but fearfully, Bush will do something that both aggravates North Korea and lays a track towards a very serious confrontation with the communist countries. If he attacks North Korea, China must protect itself and with mutual security agreements, that means Russia and China will support North Korea...and where will India (another nuclear power) go....??? The problem is predicated on the inherent thought that we are superior....well, sad to say but those days are fast waning.

The Iraq venture was not very important in the fight against terroris. It paved the way for democray in that country , though as is wont with the muslims thay do not understnd the value of democarcy because of the indoctrination of their religions in violence and dictaorship. May be Saddom husein was right in all that he did to keep peace in that country. But now Bush is loosing suppost for the cause of iraq because his venture has disturbed the peace in that country and he is unable to restore order or leave the country at this stage of turmoil. It was a bad venture ,and unimportant venture though with good intentions . It was a misdirected venture .Bush should habe concentrated on the activities of Pakistan's ISI and Afghanistan and the tribals in the border of pakistan if he were sereious about quelling terrorsm .Now the American people's money is being used to fund terrorist activities by islamic fundamentalists with the belssingins of the ISI of pakistan. It is a funny situation. No one has ever succeeded in any operation when he is keeping comapny with a quizzling.

Politician never want to solve the problem completely, they do up to that much which will serve their political purpose. Don't you follow anything other than bleeding hear daily? There is massive improvement in Iraq. It is just the pinko press only focuses on the problem areas (very small). There are more people killed in Detroit EACH DAY than in Iraq and Afganistan combined in a month.
