I have a 17 year old friend who still wets her bed around 3 to 4 times a week. Is she ok? Can she be cured?

usually bed wetting, and especially that much, is a sign the organ has not matured. She should check with her doctor.

Releases like that could also mean there is fear (maybe from being molested or the fear of being molested) but then you can't ask her about that...that's personal. Or there could be fear from the strong arm of someone who has hit her, or the memories therefrom. Or, could be her muscles are lax and she doesn't know how to tighten those muscles so she won't leak. Or, could be she is not getting enough good sound rest. If the body is overtired and does not have enough nutrition that area becomes weak. She might want to check with her doctor first to rule out bladder infection.

It's normal for some people to wet the bed. It's a physical problem. A good start to curing it is following a certain diet.

It could just be regular bedwetting that needs to be outgrown. A family member of mine wet the bed until she was 19 and my father until he was 16. It's sometimes just something you outgrow. There are nighttime sleep pants that I've seen go up to 150 pounds and they're thin enough that no one would know that they are being worn. I would still advise her to see a doctor in case it's something else and there might now be treatments available.

Ask her not to drink any water after 6:00 pm. She should go to bed after voiding the urine completely. Any senior member of the family should assist her to go to the restroom after midnight every day. If these efforts fail, consult an Urologist. He will prescribe some medicines to slow down the secretion of urine during sleep (opposite of diuretic).

She might be stressed, etc. or just naturally have a small bladder. She could also be a really deep sleeper so she doesn't feel the body's impulse to go pee. She should try not drinking much when it's late

Ask her if she was ever sexually abused. Bed wetting is a common trait of people who were. Counseling will help, if she gets a good one who will listen to her.

I had a son with the same problem but no matter what my son't was, she needs to go to a good doctor who listens to her and reads between the lines should there be underlying stress, abuse (God forbid) or other issues. She needs to have a parent with her too. Good luck, Suzanne

this is not normal.....i would go to a doctor to rule out an underlying cause.....there are medicines to help this condition.....but until then maybe she could set an alarm for say 3 in the morning pee and go back to bed.

A doctor would be the one she sees. She may have a tumor crowding her bladder, or just a small bladder.
