Because it's very rude to ignore people in a time of tragedy. Most of us mean well. Soon this will blow over, and the Amish can go back to pretending the rest of us don't exist.

It seems to me that the media is respecting there privacy. The Amish asked that the media not be allowed to go beyond a certain point, and the media is respecting that. The media,,better yet the world is drawn to these stories, there heart breaking, and make every one want to put a face, or place to the story. Could you just leave 9/11 alone?? I doubt it, you watched the news, you read the articles, you may have even visited the memorial, don't you think some of the victims families wanted to be left alone? Same difference.

It seems like when attention is put on people that are different they have a hard time letting it go. I agree, the Amish people didn't ask for this attention and because of their beliefs just want it to end so they can grieve for those they lost. They are a group that doesn't bother us and all they wan't is to live their lives in peace. God Bless.

I lived with the Amish when I was just a small child, rode to school in there horse and buggys. They are quite people and do not like nor do they want this attention. The media has gotten out of hand on a lot of things, and this is one of them

I dont think there are very many people that do want all those cameras and news people crawling around them. It has nothing to do with the fact that they are amish.

Well, for the time being, I agree.

However, eventually we're going to have need of the land area and natural resources they're currently sitting on, so they'll probably have to join up with the rest of society at some point. Also, as technology drives ahead, in another 100 years or so they're going to find themselves surrounded by towering cities of giant crystalline domes filled with robots and cyborgs, so somewhere up there they're not going to have a choice, they'll have to join us and embrace our technological advancements.

The media doesn't know when to back off and respect people. They're just concerned about getting the story first and/or getting the most details.

I agree. They're private people. We know what happened. We feel for them. But enough's enough. It's time for them to get back to their lives, the way they choose to live - privately.

The media is going to cover a story like that....that's what they do. The rest is to feed our general curiosity about them. You know that they are special when they have already forgiven the shooter.

Amen!! I agree totally! But, It's just like everything else, anything that is "different" or "non-conforming" to what we think is normal, we have to disect it and intrude on it....we as a society, can't just "leave it alone". It's pitiful that we can't just leave well enough alone and let them be...
