A real parent would hopefully know how to capitalize, punctuate and form sentences.

When I was in high school, we were having the same problems. Some of our instruments were held together with electric tape, as the football team recieved brand new warm-up jerseys. You might think it's cause the team was bringing revenue in for the games.... no. They were 0-10 my junior year, and 3-7 my senior year. Anyways, we did a couple different fundraising themes. Here are some ideas:

We threw out the fruit sales and started selling Zap-a-Snack pizzas, which are way better than Stouffer's:

We were able to buy a new percussion line with the profits we made.

We also did something called "Basketmainia!" Every band, choir, etc. member would bring in an item for themed baskets. We had 5 huge baskets, each with their own themes: Italian, Chocolate, etc. So the Italian basket had different kinds of pasta, pepperonis, tomato sauces, alfredo sauces, Garlic bread, olive oil, red and white table cloth, etc. The chocolate basket was filled all different types of chocolate. They were sort of like Longerberger baskets. Anyways, we sold raffle tickets for $1 each at every football game and concert, and announced the winner at the last home game. People could buy as many tickets as wanted, and chose which basket or baskets to put the tickets in for. Because all the items were donated by band/choir members, it was all profit.

We also had free car washes, which is a little too chilly right now. People just donated however much money they felt like.

We had a "Tag Day" where we all got into our very hot, wool uniforms on a Saturday morning, going door-to-door asking for donations. I think we raised over $1000 that day.

Every year, we did a musical or a variety show, and sold tickets. Each ticket included dinner, beverages, and the show. We weren't a big school, so we just dressed up the gym. A lot of the parents got involved and built a stage, made costumes, and cooked the food. Students who didn't want to perform, signed up to be servers. The art-program set up art-work displays made by students throughout the year in the lobby. I was actually surprised by the turnout because it seemed no one cared about the music students.

If you have an account with Washinton Mutual you can apply for Wamoola. You register your credit/debit card and every time you spend money they donate it to a school of your choice. Any one you know that's a parent and a Washington Mutual member you should encourage them to do this too.
