I firmly believe so. I'm not speaking of all, but a vocal and prejudiced few.

They pray that others leave homosexuality, even if that means leaving behind a beloved partner, kids and property, loss of friends and community, and at least temporary loneliness and confusion.

They pray that others leave their religions, even if it means losing friends and family, being confused, and feeling empty for a while.

If I did that as a Witch, don't you know that would be called cursing and I'd be called a real life bad Witch. And the hell of it is, I'd agree with that! I would never do that to anyone!

What are your opinions?

I'm liking that this is making people think. Thank you.

Desjardin2002, I have one small quibble. Most Witches do *not* do love spells, and especially not Wiccans. We may do spells to attract love in general, but we do not try to manipulate a particular other person into loving us, as we consider that harmful to both the other and ourselves.

We are to let our nay be nay and our yay be yay. No foul or coarse language, and not call harm upon another.

Let me begin by saying you're misunderstanding their intentions. A curse is an intent to harm.

These days pop psychology says if you're unhappy move on. Which means our divorce rate is at epidemic levels because people see nothing wrong with leaving behind spouses and children.

I see that as a great wrong. Is it a curse? No.

If we are unhappy in a commitment, then we have to change things for the better. Simply "moving on" does not equate to happiness. We may feel "free" for a moment, but then we will just get ourselves into another unhappy situation.

The point is, we have to look within and learn what makes US happy. No one wants to do that. We don't want to be responsible for ourselves.

With Christians and homosexuality or what they see as base religions - praying that someone (obviously someone they care about or they wouldn't bother) leave a homosexual relationship or changed denominations is not a curse. It is hope. You may not see it that way, but that's what it is to them.

Witches don't see love spells as a curse. To them it is good. They are a "good witch." But they are toying with the emotions of someone else. Attempting to take away their free will and insert their own will. Again, there is no intent to harm. But they don't seem to see how it is wrong.

Prayer is asking God to change someone's heart. Sometimes the answer to that prayer is No.

God himself often leaves us in states of loneliness and confusion so that we will turn away from what is wrong and turn towards what is right. Very often so that we will just return to Him.

Now comes the big however...

However: To answer your question: Yes. Christians can curse. Very often without knowing. Somewhere in the Old Testament, and I'm so sorry I can't tell you where, there is a warning. 'An angry woman's prayer is a curse.'

Never, ever pray in anger. If someone makes you angry, or some situation is unbearable, don't pray in anger. Pray for the fortitude (gift of the spirit) to do God's will. Pray for peace.

No, they shouldn't curse. Everything that we say and do is supposed to be in God's image and cursing does not portray a Godly image. I personally pray about the things that you mentioned but I pray that they find peace with whatever decision or decision is right for them. I have friends and family that are gay and I am a Christian who doesn't believe the norm i.e. I believe that you are born gay. I don't think it is a choice. I can only pray that if God does not see that as "right" then he created them right? Hopefully this is just one example of where he will have mercy and forgive. Our God is an awsome God and I have Faith that love will prevail!

Christians pray for souls to be saved. When I pray, I don't say, Lord let the homosexuals leave their partners. My pray is that you have a real experience with God and that through the knowledge of truth, you would turn from your sin and be saved. That's should be our only concern. If it means you have to get something out of your way that's preventing that, then so be it. No one is wanting homosexuals to hurt, lose friends, etc. You act like all Christians we want to do is hurt people. I know the truth hurts. But you need to realize Christians lose stuff, people, and things all the time, but the gain is far greater.

christians cant curse, we have no supernatural power of our own.
we can destroy other peoples lives though, the same with all of us. the thing with homosexuallity is this if we allow it, then are we also to allow incest and beastiallity(sex with animals). where does the line stop. i have seen protests that "we are born this way we cant help it". that may be a arguement that gay people can use to protest, but what about bi-sexual they actually have no excuse. they can choose to do the natural thing but choose the unatural thing as well.- wonder what the world would really be like without gods morals and whether us christians would be such a stench then.

When we share our faith with others, and they come to Christ, it is to save them from the penalty of their sin. We all sin. Whether it be the thief, the murderer, the gossip, the homosexual, the idolater.

Jesus did not say that it would be easy. In fact, He said the opposite. He knew that His name would be a stumbling block to many. He foretold about those very things you talk about.

Here's what He says about it: "Do you think that I came to bring peace on earth? Not at all, I tell you, but rather division! From now on, five people in one household will be divided, three against two and two against three. They will be divided father against son, son against father, mother against daughter, daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law, and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law." (Luke 12:51-53)

See, people want a fluffy Jesus who tells them "I'm okay, you're okay." But Jesus didn't say that. He said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6) It is this claim that He alone made, that causes people to stumble. They want God and Heaven on their terms, not His.

Those who come to Him often end up being shunned by family. Muslims who convert, especially, have much to fear, since apostasy is punishable by death.

This fulfills what Jesus also said, "Yes, an hour is coming when the one who kills you will think he is serving God!" (John 16:2)

Nevertheless, those who come to Him receive greater things than what they lost. "In fact, everyone who has left his homes, brothers, sisters, father, mother, children, or fields because of my name will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life." (Matthew 19:29)

It may sound harsh, but then again, reality often is.

I can see how you might see it that way, and heck even some Christians, but I think most Christians understand that God has the final say on whether or not we get what we ask for in our prayers, so it's probably not quite the same thing.

hmmm... don't we leave our families behind if we go away to college, and we know that it is worth it because it will give us a better life. Don't we leave our people behind if we get married, because it's a decision that we made to be committed to someone. Same thing with Christianity for me. I have my beliefs and I won't compromise them for people. I still have my friend and familiy and I haven't left them behind, but if they trying to get me to denounce God, then I sure will have no qualms of putting my foot down and saying Sianara -or however you spell that!

Asking the creator of the universe to steer someone in the right direction is not cursing them. "Playing" with spells and things is. *(Trust me been there before.) God is all that there is and the only way to do something evil is to go against God.
