the belief in the trinity is an entirely PAGAN CONCEPT HAVING NOTHING TO DO WITH CHRISTIANITY! it is doccumented to have exhisted 2,000 years before Christ in many polytheistic cultures like Egypt who worshiped triune gods like horus ,isis osiris also the Babylonians worshipped a triune god namely ishtar, sin.shamash, as well as the palmyrans 1,000 yrs B.C, their triune god consisted of moon god, lord of the heavens, sungod in India 700B.C. worshiped a triune god 1200B.C. kampucheaworshipeda triune god Norway 1300 C.E, France in the 14th cent Germany in the 19 cent Italy in the 16th cent also in the 20th cent in Germany this is not an all inclusive list of the pagan origins of the concept Neither jesus nor any of his apostles taught or believed in any trinitarian concept nor is it a Christian concept or teaching note please their is a difference between christendom which does espouse this teaching and Christianity which doe not teach this concept Christianity was started by Jesus Christ christendom was started by emperor constantine in 325 A.D. it started with plato and later some of his followers the Apostles warned that some would spread this Apostasy from Jesus teachings in iin 1st tim 4:1 2nd Thess 2:3 Acts 20;30 2nd Peter 2;1,3, 2nd Tim 2:16-18 2nd John 9,10 , Rom 16:17,18 I 2nd Pet 2:1 while the Apostles were alive they were able to keep this Apostasy in check however after the death of the last Apostle John in 98 C,E. after finishing the Book of Revelation in 96 C.E. after about 2 centuries a group that had deviated from the teachings of jesus had started to follow after other things like worldly philosophies and teaching of men like plato and his followers and as time went on their was a lot of fighting going on between the apostate christians ( knows as christendom) and the pagans over mostly petty junk then the empor at the time Constantine decided to put an end to all this fighting and said he was going to make an "official state religion " that everyone had to worship so he took bits and pieces from the apostate christians and bits and pieces from the pagans and mixed them all togother that is how the trinity concept became "christianized " and accepted over the years starting with the council of nicea and lather with other conncils untill its present day form hope this help you see clearer how this pagan doctrine got its start and is a God dishonoring idea Gorbalizer

If developed slowly after the apostles died.
*** rs p. 406 par. 1 Trinity ***
In The Encyclopedia Americana we read: “Christianity derived from Judaism and Judaism was strictly Unitarian [believing that God is one person]. The road which led from Jerusalem to Nicea was scarcely a straight one. Fourth century Trinitarianism did not reflect accurately early Christian teaching regarding the nature of God; it was, on the contrary, a deviation from this teaching.”—(1956), Vol. XXVII, p. 294L.
From Romans, we see that Jesus and Paul did not believe in a trinity.
(Romans 15:4-6) . . .” 4 For all the things that were written aforetime were written for our instruction, that through our endurance and through the comfort from the Scriptures we might have hope. 5 Now may the God who supplies endurance and comfort grant YOU to have among yourselves the same mental attitude that Christ Jesus had,
6 that with one accord YOU may with one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
According to Strongs: Elohim can mean gods,
or it can mean Supreme God
or it can mean magistrates
These are alternate meanings.
In English, the word 'fast' can mean move very quickly,
The rabbit ran fast to escape the fox.
or not to move at all.
The cargo was held fast on the ship.
We would feel very sorry for the rabbit that used the definition of not move at all to escape the fox.
You can't combine the definitions, it is one or the other.
At Gen 2:6 The Supreme God said to His only begotten Son, Let us.
Jehovah was not talking to himself.
By the way look up begotten in a english dictionary. it means "caused to come to life, or produced"
Col 1:15, Rev 3:14 shows that Jesus was the very first thing Jehovah created.

Wow already some inconsistent answers. Sorry, but the "Trinityy " did start with the Nicene creed. "Trinit y" is never used in the Bible, nor does Jesus say he is the "Trinity". the trinity is just an interpretation that was decided on at a council of men.

It emerged slowly in the pre-Nicene period (up to AD 325), although in addition to proto-Trinitarians, there were various non-Trinitarian groups. Between the Council of Nicea in AD 325 and the Council of Chalcedon in AD 451, the doctrine was codified -- and enforced by the Empire. So actually the doctrine was elaborated gradually over a period of several hundred years.

What is the trinity?
The Trinity can also be called the "Godhead". It is the 3 main Persons of God. It is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. All 3 are God and no part is greater than the other.(Holy Spirit is God: Acts 5:3-4, 2 Cor. 3:18 / Jesus is God: John 1:1,14,17-18 / God the Father is God: He is mostly in the old testament and Jesus called Him "Father") All 3 are equal (Matt. 28:18-20). The word "trinity" or "Godhead" is not in the bible, but the bible clearly shows that God has 3 distinct Persons.
Proof of the trinity in the Bible
1) Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."
The word "God" in this text is Elohim(spelling?) in Hebrew which is God plural.
2) Genesis 1:26 "Then God[Elohim] said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness..."
Genesis 3:22 "And the LORD God said, 'The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil...
Genesis 11:7 "Come, let us go down..."
3) The trinity consists of God the Father, God the Son(Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit.
-God the Father
Matthew 5:48 "Be perfect, therefore as your heavenly Father is perfect.
-God the Son(Jesus/Immanuel)
Isaiah 7:14 "Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel."
"Immanuel" means "God with us"
This was fullfilled in Matthew 1:22-23
-God the Holy Spirit
Genesis 1:2 "Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
4)All Three at the same time can be found in this passage:
Read Matthew 3:13-17
Matt. 3:16-17 "As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. And a voice[God the Father] from heaven said, 'This is my Son[Jesus], whom I love; with him I am well pleased.'"

Nicean Council if you are talking about the church error of three divine persons from eternity. The Nicean Council can be googled on the internet. It was a reactionary council that wrote a new creed (and screwed up the Catholic Church evern further).

Father, Son (Word) and Holy Spirit are mentioned throughout the OT and NT. God even referes to Himself in plural form in some early scriptures.
