you should have a light lunch, like side salad, enough to sustain you but not to over stuff you , or maybe a soup.

Ok first I am wondering why you are supposed to eat 2500 calories a day? Are you on a prescribed diet by your doctor? Because that is about 500 calories over the average that you need in a day to maintain yourself. Especially if you are a woman, it actually will lower down a little more. You would probably be healthier at eating 2000 calories.
I am also wondering if you have experienced binges like this in the past? Do you ever find yourself not controlling your eating and doing it for no reason? If so this must be addressed. You can feel satisfied in the day and eat several times, and still have healthy calorie amounts. Over time your habits will control your weight. Make a habit of eating healthy meals. Start now, after this overindulgence you had.

Like others have already answered, it is not a good idea to skip meals. Eat a light lunch such as a small salad, and a light dinner. Try not to go above 1,000 to 1,500 calories but don't beat yourself up if you do. After all, it's only one day.

The stress that you put on yourself by beating yourself up mentally over it will actually be much worse for you than the calories themselves. Read up on Cortisol for more information about that.

When I was a personal trainer, I would advise many of my clients that were trying to lose weight or maintain a lighter physique to eat like an upside-down pyramid. Eat a larger breakfast, a small snack, a lunch that is slightly smaller than breakfast, a small snack, then a dinner that is slightly smaller than lunch. Done right, you will never feel hungry or unsatisfied and you will keep your metabolism working in your favor all day.

For the snacks, remember that they are snacks and not meals. A piece of fruit and a small handful of unsalted nuts is a perfect example. A container of low-fat yogurt with some healthy granola sprinkled in is another good example.

Also, when buying foods in the grocery store, stick to the perimeter (outside) areas of the store. Think about it; that's where almost every grocery store keeps the fresh fruits and vegetables, the whole grain breads, and the fresh meats, fish, and dairy products. By sticking to those areas for the majority of your food purchases, you take most of the thinking out of your diet right there.

I know my answer went "above-and-beyond" your original question a little bit, but since I have had multiple clients that had asked me the same and similar questions, I figured that everything I included was relevant.

Good luck! And remember to relax and not stress about it! Tomorrow is another day!

No. Just eat low calorie lunch and dinner. Not a big deal. You should indulge at breakfast and eat sinsible lunch and dinner. Breakfast is the most important

No.....its never a good idea to skip meals. Eat really healthy for lunch and dinner and don't eat up all your calories in one meal anymore. Today is fine but if you continue to do this is when you will begin to have problems. Be careful!!

While I think it's great for people to fast for spiritual purposes, I'm against it for dieting purposes, it makes the diet too hard to stick to. So you went a little overboard today, maybe just try adding an extra 5 minutes on your exercise for the day, and call it good, knowing you'll do better tomorrow.

best wishes

Just skip lunch and eat something healthy or at least not extremely fattening for dinner.
