It restricts the oxygen going into your blood. You are breathing in carbon monoxide amongst other nasties instead.

Cigarette smoke has a lot of stuff in it that is bad for you- Including carbon monoxide, which is going to make you feel light-headed. It will keep oxegen from getting into your blood, and otherwise introduce poisons to your system.

Think of this: In a fire, most people who die do so of smoke inhalation long before the flames touch them. So what're you doing when you put that stick in your mouth?

If you are talking about lightheaded, it is because of the lack of oxygen in your system when you smoke. You are substituting bad crap for life sustaining oxygen...good luck getting life insurance & your health insurance should be higher to pay for all the colds & respritory ailments you will get, but good luck!
