Most definately!!
During these ages a child grows out of everything so quickly. There are many off brands that make clothes almost exactly the same style as brand name clothing.
My step-daughter is 12. At one point I was buying her Wal-Mart clothes. Cute ones.. She loved them. I liked the price and we were both happy until her mother... had to say stuff about it. She changed my step-daughters point of view. I even took her to Marshalls (discount clothing store with brand name clothing) she loved the sketcher outfit I bought her... Her mother then called and said she don't like her wearing clothes from there and she dont take her to discount stores.
Needless to say that pretty much ended that.... but In my opinion I will buy off brand clothes. If the child likes them then its fine.
My son is 6 months old and my friend actually gave me all of her hand me downs from her 2 year old. My son wears them proudly!!! I dont mind at all!

Absolutely! Name brands mean nothing to a 4 &5 yr old . The only people that name brands mean anything to, are not the people you should have influencing the way you raise your child. Every person has their own "style" and if you want to dress your child in name brands so be it! But why not buy something cheaper and save the $$ for a vacation, a day off work (spent with your child), or their education? In 6 months the clothes are out grown and the $$ was wasted... do you remember needing name brands at that age???? Being a parent is the hardest job in the world... search your heart and your brain, and choose the best answer for your children... Good Luck!

ARE YOU SERIOUS? Why don't you purchase clothing for your children that's within your budget? 4 and 5 year old children's are not into the designer clothing that early in life! I know what you're dealing with because when my son was around 7-8 years old that's all he wanted was designer stuff and if I didn't get it----he would ask me to leave the price tag on it so that his father could take it back along with him so that he could pick out something else! Did my son have balls or what? I would buy 4 shirts 3 pants and shoes. He'll return everything but the shoes for school and come back with 2 designer shirts and 1 pair of pants. It was like living with P Diddy Combs! I feel for you!

I have never understood why some children "bully" their parents into spending twice or three times the cash for a name! When I was a child I didn't care if my jeans said Levi or what they were jeans! When my parents bought me T shirts if I liked design great but they didn't have to have the hang ten feet logo! Now I am a parent of five and NO we don't buy name brands and I don't raise spoiled brats who have to have something because of a name! They (like their parents) enjoy what they get and name doesn't matter. You want to raise Paris Hilton's then keeping spending! Jeans are jeans its that simple! The money you save could be spent on education family vacation etc! My kids have no complaints as I never did either and they never want for anything. You run the household NOT your children. First its clothes whats next!?

It is quite alright to buy stuff that is not brand name. Most of the time it last longer through the washes and the outside beatings clothes take. I find it is also better and more cost effective if clothing is bought at the end of season clearance sale. I just buy things two sizes bigger cause by next year they have grown into them and are already set for that season and you don't have to spend an leg and foot for clothes.

I hope it's okay. I grew up without name brands... I just don't understand when my 14 yr old has GOT to have these shoes. I don't buy them. Yes, at times this causes an argument. He gets an allowance, if he wants those shoes, he can add some of his allowance to my money and get them, but I am not about to pay 75 dollars for a pair of shoes that have to be replaced within 6 months. I don't even own a pair of 75 dol shoes. My 12 year old daughter is just like me, she could care less about name brands.

Sure. I grew up wearing clothing that was not brand name and I survived the deprivation without scars. You're the parent... tell the kids that not all brand names are good quality. And tell them that the money you save on clothes will go toward more toys.

I do not see why the name of the clothing makes a difference. My daughter is a wal mart baby .I am buy new clothes every 3 or 4 months.why spend a bunch of money when they are going to go thru a bunch of wear and tear .Not having them in brands names now is going to save you money when they are older.I mean it gets more expensive as they get bigger.I am going to tell my daughter when she is older if she wants brand name that is fine but she is going o have to pay for half of it .I do not see the big thrill in having someone Else's name written across your bum(Tommy ).You can find the same styles in off bramd clothing also. All that money for a name .NOPE not worth it in my eyes

Yes it is ok to buy cloths that are name brand for children that are that young, if you start now then they will only expect it when they get older and the older they get the more expensive it gets
