Go like your are attending a religious wedding. It is a religious celebration. I would say get a nice watch or gift certificate to a nice department store. A Bhatmitzvah is a celebration of transition to adulthood get her something more grown up.

Just remember that Jewish women are required to dress very modestly. Arms, legs and neck should be covered. Low cut tops are out as are short skirts. Definitely no trousers as they're strictlay against Jewish law for women. Hat or scarf might be appreciated.
That's if the "do" is orthodox. If they're reform Jews, they wouldn't notice even a bikini (OK, joking, but they're much less strict).

As for presents. Whatever you like, books, only if you know the type of reading matter approved by the parents. (I have a standard book present - Perek Shira (Illustrated) or The Illustrated Pirkei Avos - both published by Artscroll www.artscroll.com . Almost any sect of Jews will love either of them - whether boys or girls.
Have fun.

Gift--a card to a store she likes would be just fine.

What to wear--just a nice dress, and you'll have to do heels and hose with it. Wear what you would wear to a nice restaurant or a family reunion.

When I was 13, there were a lot of Jewish girls in my school, and we all had our special Bat Mitzvah dress that we kept reusing for our friends' parties.

Have fun!

If no ideas a Gift Card to a favourite store is OK.
