take drammamine the night before getting on the ship and then again the day you leave and follow directions - snack all the time it helps to keep food on your stomach - I get very sea sick and this i have done for several trips - its the trip i didnt take it that was the worse ever. I would rather take it and not need it then deal with the time it takes getting into your system...
Have a great trip!!!!!!!! and bring the drammamine with you its super $$$$$$$$ on the ship.

He could try travel bands which are available in most chemists. The bands are worn on both wrists and can help to control nausea and motion sickness. Apparently works according to the ancient chinese principles of acupressure. He could use those on top of other remedy he chooses to take if he is indeed such a bad sufferer.

I have tried Dramamine and all the "cures" and the only one that really works is Ginger. Eat some ginger snaps and drink Ginger-ale and he should do fine.

Mythbusters tested all the remedies and also found ginger to be the only one that worked.
