I've heard of Rx'ing antidepressants for TMJ problems, but I admit that I am not familiar with this for gum disease. Can you please post an additional question telling us exactly what it was that your dentist prescribed? Thanks. Maybe we can give a decent answer with more information.

Whenever in doubt of a medication from any doctor, you can either type the name of the medication into Google or you can buy yourself a Prescription Drug Book in a book store or in Book Clubs. Then you have access to all the info you need on that particular drug.

I use my Prescription Drug Books all the time. They come in handy not just for myself, but for my family members and friends. Each year, Crossings Book Club sells Prescription Drug Books. The cost is near $30 and worth every penny.

Good luck to you and I hope I was some what helpful!
