There are a multitude of differences; too many to list, in fact. I don't know that one single difference is any more or less prevalent than another, but if I had to select one:

I would say it is that the Asian culture tends to center on the group as a whole, where the Western mindset is more geared toward the individual. In Japan, a worker gives his all for the success of the company. In America, the worker gives his all in order to move ahead in the company.

Is there only one eastern or western culture? The Norse are very different from Spaniards, and the Japanese are very different from the Cantons...
I suppose the greatest difference though, may be that of empiricism--the west has it and the east does not.

Western culture is more focused on the individual...the "I" and "my" and "mine." Asian culture is more community-oriented...families, towns, and even ancestors have a strong influence on their culture.
