Not a single thing. My sister in law is dying of emphysema because she smoked. It will be a terrible death, too. The lungs fill up and the person drowns.

Well yes, actually...the tobacco companies and the institutions that invest in them. Oh, and the lobbyists for the tobacco companies, they make a pretty penny, too. And, well, I suppose we should include us, the people, since tobacco smokers pay such a high tax. And maybe you should include the include the states where tobacco is grown, and the farm owners and of course, the workers, too. And I guess the trucking firms that move the tobacco, and the stores that sell it.

Is that enough to get you started? I imagine you could come up with some more.

Good luck on the paper.

Tobacco was developed in the far east where later they added opiates and by the 1700's opium dens were created as it was a anti-social behaviour.

If you are an embalmer/undertaker/graveyard owner, smoking provides you a steady source of income.

yes, if your already dying from whatever...spinach, mad-cow disease, bird flu, West Nile virus....whatever.Then to relieve some stress...especially if you've never smoked before. Then why not. If it gives u a piece of mind on your death bed...go for it. If I had a terminal illness...yes I'd try smoking. Now these days everything is just as as much as a slow death as smoking is.

There is absolutely nothing good about smoking, its a killer to both the smoker and those close to him/her. It's expensive, smelly and antisocial too.

Nope! Nothing! I was addicted for years, but fortunately stopped before I had a hose up my nose, or cancer. However, the addiction never truly goes away and when I am terminal, I will fix a martini and light up a cigarette.

May I quote Rudyard Kipling:

A woman, is after all, only a woman...but a good cigarette is a smoke...

huh. how can there be anything good about smoking if you'll come up having lung cancer, yellow teeth and whole loads of other side ailments??

.. oh! probably you'll stay real skinny if you smoke? im not sure. but i realised those who smoke tend to be really skinny. unhealthily skinny. but nonetheless, not fat.

so if someone's obsessive at being size 00 he or she can smoke at her own peril. be skinny and die.
