My husband and I are in our fifties. We have had our own business for the last 10 years. We sold our last business in January this year. The sale went terribly wrong due to the buyers defaulting on payment, shutting our business and emptied our shop, of stock, and assets. We had to give up our home, put our furniture in store, and are living in a little back room. I feel as though there is no light at the end of the tunnel, and instead of waking up with a smile, I open my eyes and think "Oh God am I still here"? My poor husband could only get a barmans job. Works from 4pm till sometimes 2-3am in the mornings. Its so hard and so unfair. We are honest people and worked hard for what we had.

well, as long as you keep opening your eyes there is hope.If you've fallen as low as you can go then the next level is up,again.you've been down before, you got back up.now the question is what do the two of you want now ? maybe a more simple life awaits you.you two sound like you've worked hard for years and now you feel you have little.yet you still have each other and your health it seems, so actually you have a lot.perhaps fate or God which ever you prefer is offering you a needed change and what may seem a bad thing is actually a good thing. what's wrong with a new life and a new journey? you two are not old and you are honest, hard working people, so whatever is happening now may be new and may bring about change, but with credentials like the two of you have,I can't see anything but good things ahead. Don't be scared and step out on faith, you will see this time next year a clearer, more peaceful existence.don't give up and let this change become a burden, see it as a new life and a gift.good luck.hope i don't sound crazy.just trying to help you get on with living no matter what the changes.

First of all, I am so sorry to hear about this. It is so sad to see hard working people who have gave their all to start a business and lose it and all that it has given to them. I cannot imagine how you and your husband must feel. But, you still have eachother, and your health. You have a mind to think and to learn. You need to go to a job agency and apply for a job in something you enjoy. It may not be the same as what you made, but it is a start. Try to save as much as you two can. Hard work will get you back on your feet. But you can do it. You can't change the past, but you do have control of your future. Best of Luck.

So sorry to hear of your troubles.
There has to be hope when you are at Rock Bottom, no where to go but UP!!
Do you have children that could possibly help you out? Do you still have your building that your business was? Is it posssible to start your business back up again?
I guess there are more questions here, but is something to think about.....GOOD LUCK

I'm sorry. It seems very unfair but things will improve (believe it or not). Are there any family members who could help you out financially at least so you could live in a better place. You're in my prayers. Best wishes!

Once you hit bottom you can only go up. Don't give up there is something out there for you and your husband. Be glad you still have the love in your relationship, you have each other to lean on.

I wish you the best of luck.
Please keep in mind that once you hit rock bottom, there is no further place to hit, so something will end up bringing you guys up. Just like the saying, what goes up must come down, well what goes down has to come up eventually.

Don't give hope! What about going after the guy that bought/stole your business? I know that is an obvious question, but what about it?
