You are one of the lucky ones that have a high metabolism. Lucky you. Just be careful that it doesn't catch up with you as you get older.

I have a high metabolism too. It has always been so aggravating to hear people say, "Don't complain - you are so lucky!"

I did complain. Because I wanted to get more muscular.

If that's what you want, then there is a way to get there safely and effectively.

First, you will have to hit the gym. Focus on compound exersises such as squats, deadlifts, military press, and bench press. Use free weights if possible. Those four exercises are the most effective at putting on mass.

Don't worry yourself with isolation exercises such as curls, etc. at first.

Get plenty of rest. At least 7 hours of sleep a day.

Now for your diet. This is crucial. Eat at least a total of 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight you have per day. Preferably 1.5 g per pound.

For example, if you weighed 150 lbs, you would eat at least 150 g of protein per day; preferably 225 grams per day.

Eat CLEAN proteins like chicken breasts (not fried), tuna and other fishes, red meats like hamburger meat (no bun), steaks, etc. Look at the nutritional guides of the packages you eat.

You may put on a little bit of belly fat during the time that you are bulking up. Let your mirror be the judge. If you think you are getting too fat, then slim back and do some cardio exercises 2 or 3 times a week like running or swimming. Just don't over do the cardio or you will be spinning your wheels trying to gain weight.

Look at the site www.bodybuilding.com. LOTS of great articles there for guys wanting to bulk up without getting fat. Look for articles that focus on so-called "Hardgainers", which is what you are - someone with a high metabolism.

Good luck!

First, go to a doctor to rule out anything serious. You may need thyroid medication. It could be a metabolism problem that can be corrected very easily. The doctor should be the one to advise you with your problem.
