If you are seriously a practitioner of Voudon (and I'm not saying that you aren't), and other people are permitted to wear religious icons and materia, then there is no reason you should not be afforded the same right. You should bring the issue before the school board. If they are going to block you from displaying symbology of your beliefs, then the same rules should apply across the board, whether it be someone who wears a cross or one who carries a kirpān.

You attend a very interesting school, by the way. I've never heard of a school with such a variety of belief systems displayed.

any thing associated with black freaks people out. You should raise that issue when they ask you to take it off.
You can also get another one that is more discret.
Your practice is not widely accepted by all so when we make an issue about it we are only foling ourselves. I know how you feel.
I just were my stuff on a long chain so no can really see it.
The most important thing is that you have it on your person.
Unless of course you have ifa beads which no one will ask you to take it off cause it just look like a pretty little chain.

A bone might freak people out.

Get your spiritual leader or parents to talk to the principal, if applicable.

Or try something a bit less controversial--a veve for your Loa, a mermaid or shell for La Sirene, something iron for Ogoun, etc. It looks like you're a guy, but I can express my beliefs with a common-looking charm bracelet!

I think its silly, personally. As long as it isn't a distraction, or completely inappropriate, I think you should be able to wear it if you want. Whether I agree with it or not (and being an evangellical Christian, I would fall into the category of 'not'), you should still not be forbidden to wear it without a good reason. The constitution garuntees us the freedom of speech and of religion.

Wear it, get kicked out, call local ACLU.

If crosses are allowed, voodoo bone necklaces should be allowed.

Refuse to take it off. If they object, quote the first amendment, verbatim at them. If they still object, tell them that you'll take it off tomorrow and wear a black armband instead.

If they are educators, they'll know what the black armband means and should back off very... very quickly... because the black armbands went all the way to the supreme court and won.

Because the administration are idiots.

When I was in school, we couldn't wear beer T shirts, but T shirts with pot leafs were allowed. Who the hell can make sense of their reasoning.
