I predict that there will be some snow storms, and some hurricanes next summer. God told me.

If you have faith in the same God as I do, then you will believe me that I talked to God because of the power of my prophesies.

Is that ok and rational? Does that bother anyone?

Interesting, just a hypothetical, the God I talked to wants me to make it a rule that you can't eat spinach. Spinach to my God is an abomination. I am going to convert people to my religion and try and ban spinach.

Now what do you think of my religious believe? Kinda kooky maybe?

Now what if I said my God doesn't want people over 29 to get married and we need to make the definition of marriage fit in with what my God is saying.

Now what do you think about that idea, should my religious believes be used to define marriage in America? And don't forget, I am predicting snow and hurricanes, so you know God did talk to me.

No, it's strength is in emotional pulls at human insecurity along with vague claims that others can use to establish some kind of authoritative stance. The prophecies are useful in their vagueness and their applicability to any given time. Any religious leader can corral the troops by pointing to some current event or other that can be somewhat associated with some text.

No. Interpretation and a powerful and convincing speaker to spread the word. I do like your religion, though. No spinach is a good rule of thumb. Please do define marriage in America. I bet it would say something to the effect that any two people that love each other can be married. Makes sense and does not exclude.

How much snow? I do want some good skiing in the northeast this year.

Wow, snow, hurricanes, you are a plethora of information. I have faith in you. Spinach is okay if you eat it raw with feta cheese on top. The animal by-product can be obtain through natural means. No animal will be harmed.
Marriage as a ceremonial rite is acceptable, yet lawyers are the ones to benefit when it comes apart. I know of no lawyer who asked God if a couple should reconsider....where would his next mortgage payment come from if everyone lived happily ever after? (not to mention the pool man his wife is sleeping with)

Absolutely not. When it comes to the Bible, it's power comes from one's fervent faith and connection to God through the Holy Spirit who helps one to cipher and interpret the scriptures as it applies to the people of God. Anyone can read the Bible and anyone can come up with their own interpretation as they see fit, but at the end of the day, there is only one truth and that is the truth that will prevail. Mankinds biggest failure of interpeting the Bible is the fact that we are only willing to learn what the scriptures mean for all the wrong reasons; either to criticise others, discredit the scripture, condemn others, and so on. In serving God truly and righteously you will learn that most of your doings a evaluated by the contemplations of your heart in other words your motives. Think for a minute; have you ever tried to truly put yourself in the place to learn the power of the word of God or are you fearful of what you will discover? No matter what we as man say about the Bible it's power is true and will be revealed to those who GENUINELY seek after God first and His ways all your concerns will then be taken care of.

Yummy, good question! I like spinach pizza and dip. The rune stones say that there will be snow storms and hurricanes too. Does that mean your god controls my stones or do my stones speak to you as a god? The possibilities for insanity based evidence are unlimited. LOL

You predicting a storm because you see storm clouds is no comparison to the already fullfilled prophecies of Scripture...Do an intelligent search and study on just one..(what are the odds of just one coming true, do you know?) Do a study on the prophecy concerning the city of tyre...just that one...and there are hundreds more...literally hundreds...

Moby Dick does have non secular tones. Alot of books have hidden agendas and underlying matters. Even young ones books, think of of The Lion, the Witch, and the cloth cabinet. Alot of human beings have confidence that Aslan symbolizes Jesus through fact of his sacrifice.

No, the power of a religious book is in it's ability to change people's lives for the better.
