Burned edges are usually a heat issue. Try turning the burner down a notch or two and cooking the egg for a minute or so longer. This will also decrease your chances of making the egg white rubbery -- which usually happens when you cook the egg too quickly on too high of a heat. You can also try using something different when frying -- like use a small amount of oil if you currently use butter...or try a non-stick cooking spray if you currently use oil.

put a tablespoon or so of water in the pan, and cover it with a lid. The water will boil into steam and help cook the top of the egg faster, before the edge burns. The lid holds the heat in and helps it cook faster also.

Turn the burner to medium high and use a tablespoon of butter or margarine to fry the egg. Don't use water as the white takes longer to cook and most people remove the egg under cooked which can cause bacteria making you sick.

use higher heat, but add a bit of water and cover, the steam will cook it quickly and no burning. Looks like basted eggs(sunny side up), or you can turn over. Using water you can cook several eggs at once in big skillet.

Try turning down the heat on the stove so the egg will cook more slowly and evenly.
