No. I am an atheist, and I consider myself a person of high morals. I am rather successful, currently making a six figure income. I have many friends and not too many enemies. I have a masters degree, so I am well educated. I do a good amount of volunteer work and give to several charities. I consider most people to be generally good.
That's not the profile of a misanthrope.
I know many atheists, and they tend not to be misanthropes either. Most atheists have a deep regard for their fellow man. I think that religious people tend to be more misanthropic than atheists. Most religions teach that man, by himself, is corrupted and evil. Of course, they do this to promote themselves as a solution to this corruptedness.
A recent Minnesota study showed atheists to be the most tolerant of other religions and the least tolerated. Other studies have shown atheists to be very generous people. The bad rap given us is without basis.

I consider GreenKitteh. i'm agnostic atheist and that i'm quite powerful about humanity and individuals. :) the international is lots fcked up, yet I do trust anybody has the ability to regulate it for the more beneficial positive. i imagine atheists are more beneficial probable to hate humanity as an complete of the overall beliefs atheists have. I advise that's no longer secret that faith can causes wars, terrible genocide, and torture and the overall public of human beings are non secular so yeah... There would also be a sense of frustration with some atheists that individuals nonetheless bask in non secular faith, even as they'd nicely be spending their time doing issues to more beneficial positive humanity.

Misanthropes? I think not. Misanthropy is no more common among atheists/non-believers than it is in the general population.
Check the video in the sourced link, it explains my views much better than a paragraph or two of my writing could.

Well I suppose that is a relevant question, but there are some atheists who love life, and just don't "get" or were never exposed to God. But to hate people just to hate them? They are like square pegs trying to fit into a round hole. If any thing we must try and love them more, for they are the ones who need more guidance than His true followers, God bless.

I don't think so; but if you're a theist, you might feel that the people who are telling you your religion is no different from believing in Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy are "hating" you...
But the simple fact is: we simply think that you can do better -- you don't need some Invisible Sky Daddy™ as a crutch in order to face life on life's terms.

I don't think you can make such a sweeping generalization because a disbelief in a supreme being doesn't necessarily translate into a hatred of all people. I know many atheists and agnostics, and even more non-religious people who are great people. They just don't buy what organized religion is selling.

Well, I don't consider myself a misanthrope, bur reasonable, intelligent and with a tendency to question any dictate I am supposed to obey, and I'm pretty should that's what most atheists are.
but from observing orthodox believers they all seem to have a zone of blind faith, where they behave like blind and deaf, unable to let in any doubt concerning their faith.

You are probably correct that they are but I believe that this is the inherent unanimity of the human condition so therefore the religious are just as misanthropic.

No, I think that is rubbish, sorry...
Actually, I have noticed that by far the most hateful and critical and
and down right rude and nasty (to those who are not the same as them) are the really religious ones.
Most athiests just get on with life, you know, don't worry about all this I am holier than thou, and we are better than you, and so on...
