To increase your metabolism you should eat 5-6 small snack sized meals a day. The reason for this is after a period of time from your last meal your body will go into energy storage mode (i.e. storing fuel as fat) rather than going straight to burning the food as fuel. By giving your body fuel at regular short intervals it will be less likely to start storing it as fat, whereas if you have a long interval between eating your body says to itself "I'm not sure when my next meal is coming, I better start storing some of this for later".

6 meals keeps your metabolism and energy up. Think of it like this: a deer is slender and grazes upon grass and whatnot all day long, it has energy to walk and run about the whole day. Then there is a bear who binge eats large fatty meals very sparingly. they are lethargic and have excessive fat.

6 times a day, cut your meals in half. It gives your metabolism something to work on most of the day.

eating six times a day...they don't necessarily have to be small meals...it depends on your body and how much fuel it needs...but it's a good idea to eat between meals
