Cut a hole in your ceiling and through things at them.

Talk to your neighbors. If they say they'll turn it down - believe them. If they don't turn the noise down - talk to your landlord. If the landlord doesn't seem to care or be bothered by the problem (after numerous times of talking to him - at least twice), see if other neighbors (if there are other neighbors) are also bothered by the noise.

If so, write a joint letter with all of you signing it and send it to the landlord. Make it clear what your problem is, be exact and tell them that if they do not handle the situation, you will call the Police (look for your City's nonemergency line - and see if your City has a Noise Code so you can bring it up in your letter).

And don't be afraid to call the Police a few times! You have a RIGHT to a quiet, calm residence. You should not have to listen to other people's entertainment - you are NOT paying rent to listen to it. And keep complaining - eventually either you will find a better apartment (as I know its just unreasonable to move every time you have a problem with something) or THEY will get fed up with the Police and move.

Good luck!

Move. Sorry, that's the only solution. People like that can't be reasoned with.

That's what I had to do. It was either that or go to prison for Murder.....

I'm so sorry for you, I know just what you're going through. I have a new flat now and thankfully it's peaceful so I'm staying put until I can afford a mortgage!

By the way, you don't live in Maidstone, do you? It could be my old house you've moved into! Man that girl was a Ba$tard....

You go knock on there door and explain that it is noisy downstairs, and could they keep it down? They may not realize how noisy they are. Don't get rude or nasty-be polite and that may be all it takes. If they continue-write a letter to your landlord and complain.

i have this problem also, I would have had a polite wore on the way out next time i seen them, But the cheeky Kluckers already made a complaitent to the landlord about us b4 i hade a chance to introduce myselfe and sort out the noise problem, lucky the landlord was cool and said they complain all the timeand not to worry , But it proves attack is the best form of defence as they the loudest couple in the block and as they already made the complainnt we screwed, But as i said b4 i rambled on just introduce yourself and mention in passing you can hear them some times.

Move.

I tried polite requests, police complaints, enviromental health - the works.

It's a complete waste of time as the ignorant wasters just don't care that they're making your life a misery. Nothing you can do willl make them care one iota.

Save your own time & sanity and move out quickly.

If they are reasonable people, approach them and politely explain your problem. Perhaps they don't know how noisy they sound in your apartment. If you feel that they are not approachable, contact the owners,or Body Corporate and explain the situation to them.

Give a gentle warning first. If that doesn't work, report them to management. If that doesn't work, you may want to throw an inconsiderate party of your own. If that doesn't work, move. It's depressing in the basement anyway! :)

This may sound sill but insulate your ceiling.

Create a 2" false ceiling and fill full of insulation.

Cheaper way is to put carpet tiles on the ceiling sounds daft but can look good.
