bangs can help and aren't hard to keep up if you learn to cut them yourself.

Bangs are great for people with thin or straight hair because it gives the appearance of more hair. So if your hair is already bushy or thick you may not want to cut them. Unless you use a flatiron all the time and have them sideswept like was suggested, otherwise you will end up regretting you have them. Not to mention it seems like forever for them to grow out! To me they are a pain because I have that t-zone skin so bangs get oily and eventually fall flat and start to seperate and it just looks bad. This can happen too even if they are sideswept.
To help with the thickness, try getting your hair layered. You can still keep the length, but you'll have the layers to thin the hair our a bit and you can still do a lot with layered hair.

If it looks bushy, maybe you should try the Anti-Poof shampoo by sunsilk, or a flat iron, which usually creates a sleek look. I have side-sweep bangs. If you can do a side part, try them out. They don't have to be cut constantly because they're sometimes short, sometimes long. Try this and see if you like it. Perhaps you should also try a layered look to get rid of some of the weight of your hair.

my round shaped face looks better (less round) with bangs and they really are any trouble at all for me. In fact, they add styling options. When my hair was all the same length, it was more trouble keeping my hair out of my face. I carefully trim my own bangs between haircuts with hair cutting scissors. As far as the mom thing, I had short hair for several years and grew it out for my boyfriend (before he was my husband) and almost every time my mom sees me, she tries to convince me to cut it short again because she likes it better on me. She lives in another state and let's just say that I'm older than 26. (Not competing, only commiserating.) ☺

Bangs won't make your hair look thinner. It could possible make your hair style look a little better. Its only one way to find out....cut some! IF they don't look right, then you can always pull them back and wear a head band!

You've gotta go with what looks good for your face. People are just guessing, wear it both ways and ask your family
