first flat tire.Rear passenger side. The flat tire/low pressure light came on. I put the spare on. It was brand new. My tire light is still on. Why??? Could it be because the spare has more tread than the other 3? The other choice I guess could be that the spare pressure is low. I've heard that the light staying on, if it is because of the tread, could screw up my computer system. True?? I really don't have the cash to buy 3 new tires just to match the tread of my spare. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No, you should just check the pressure on the tire. it's likely the spare pressure is low too. it has nothing to do with Tread depth.
The light also won't hurt your computer, but oddly if it never turns off you may have to have the dealer reset it for you with a scan tool. You should look first in your owners manual and see if you're supposed to be doing something differently. that's really cool that it detects low pressure btw :)

The light could be because the spare has low pressure.
Check the pressure and the will go off after a week or so.
Failing that, take it to the dealer and have the light switched off.

The tread levels have nothing to do with it, the car has no way of knowing the amount of tread on the tires. only pressures.

If it is not a regular size spare (space saver) then your light will
pick up the different rotational speeds. Or perhaps your spare does not have the Valve stem with the tire pressure monitor in it, therefor no signal is coming from your spare and you need to fix
the flat....have them be carefull with the expensive valve stem.
Don't let some novice mess it up... Good luck
