Would that be o.k. with you? If the Alien decided you were too sick to live and put you to sleep or decided you shouldn't have babies and castrated you, would that be o.k.? If the answer to any of these questions is no, then why do you do it to inferior creatures you decided to call pets?

Who gives the pet lovers the right to play GOD?

Melissa says:
..."I would imagine that if you asked many pets, they would tell you they have a pretty good thing going."

So now you also "know" what your dog is thinking. Talk about being arrogant!

You guys are missing the whole point of the question. The question is "How would YOU feel...
It's not about your pet, it's about you trapped and separated from your children in some alien hut, being the plaything of the alien kids, while your children were sold to another alien household. But hey, the aliens consider it o.k. because you are being loved and cared.... Do you get the question now???

Yeah, I think how we treat animals is disgusting. I think its is pretty bad that we have pets. Cleaning after animals! They should be cleaning up after us!

If I was too sick to live, I wish ANYONE who loved me would euthanize me. Its sick that we make our "loved ones" suffer terrible agonizing misery for months and months while they slowly slip away...

As for "castrating," well, it happens all of the time. Lots of people get vasectomies and get tubal ligation - huzzah, you're "fixed." But a lot of people don't spay or nueter their pets, too... I think you're getting fired up about something that is usually done because there are already too many animals. You did know that only very few female mammals enjoy sex, right? Us, chimps, and dolphins...I'm sure I'm missing 2-3 others, but really there are very few animals who have sex for pleasure because the female doesn't enjoy it, just the male does. So...I guess, keep your boy animals "intact," and do your female cat or dog a favor and spay her so she doesn't need to not enjoy sex so you can give all of her children away. :P

You are anthropromorphizing animals. You are not emotionally or physically the same in many ways. What we do can be cruel, I agree, but some of the things you mentioned, people do out of MERCY (putting to sleep,) and ensuring we don't need to needlessly put down animals which have grown to numerous.

Moot point. Dogs and cats were domesticated tens of thousands of years ago. There's nothing we can do about what happened then. Our ancestors made the situation, we need to do what is best for the animals now. If you don't want to have a pet fine, but don't tell those of us who have pets, love them, and care for them responsibly that we are enslaving them. I would imagine that if you asked many pets, they would tell you they have a pretty good thing going.

Number 1: you are pissing me off.
Number 2: God placed us in charge of the animals on this earth to protect them. He commanded it.
Number 3: Pets have been around since the beginning of time.
Number 4: They are not inferior. Pets have always been an integral part of our lives. To helping us with our daily lives, like sheep herding or cattle drives to finding cancer in people and drug sniffing dogs, and k9 cops etc. They have become a needed and welcomed family member.
Number 5: Regarding castration: China did it. Are they playing God? We castrate because of the need to control animal population. It would be chaos if there were millions of dogs and cats roaming the planet. Plus it keeps them from roaming the streets looking for mates. Thus controlling the many who die on the street.

Anyway rethink your thought process. It sounds like you need someone to love. Maybe a cat?

johnson, first off, i had a dog for 14 1/2 years that we were faithful to care for and love. when she got to the end of her days, she had multiple seizures for 6 months (injuring herself and my children) and could no longer hold her bodily functions. fortunately she died before we had to make any decisions.... secondly, if you were truly in God's defense, you would realize that He gave us dominion over the animals on earth and we pet LOVERS do what we feel is best for our pets. God granted us that responsibility and we do not take these decisions lightly. good question though

You have obviously never been exposed to the disastrous effects of what happens when animals are left to breed indiscriminately by irresponsible humans.

I suggest you visit the back rooms of any local animal shelter and watch them euthanize the thousands and thousands of unwanted animals out there....because people like you think they should not be fixed. The deaths of these beautiful creatures is not pretty.

You need a reality check buddy.

Dogs aren't castrated. They are spayed are neutered.
Yes, I think I would be okay with the rest of that stuff.
It's not playing God. It's being a responsible pet owner.

We pet owners do not try to play God. We put the to sleep to put them out of their misery. In my family we put our animals above ourselves. We treat them better than humans. But there are some pet owners i would like to kick them in a** because of the way they treat their animals.

Well, if you believe that any one species is greater and superior to another than arent you the one playing god? Isnt the entire planet worthy to be the best, or just you?

Without human care pets would die, humans are self sufficient when they reach adulthood, neutering pets prolongs their lives and protects from overpopulation and ertain diseases
