No one knows for sure. That's why there are so many different religions that have different sets of believes, gods, and dogmas. Some people see it as energy, some others don't think he exist as a concrete entity. It is very difficult to come up with a totalitarian universal picture of god as he is subject of human interpretation.

Describing characters I'll say as a born again christian that:
God is Love, full of compassion, merciful...
Physically we can't say, coz God is a Spiritual.
So a glimpse of how God is can be seen by what Jesus do in a person's lifes...
Know Jesus.. and be friends with christians and u'll hv a glimpse of who is God really..

Start a realationship with HIm and start reading His word in the KJV bible and find out first hand for yourself.
