Republican Senator Mike DeWine in Ohio who trails in the polls behind Democrat Sherrod Brown came out quick to say "if anybody in the leadership had information and didn't take the appropriate action with the information, then they're going to have to resign." He was speaking of any House GOP in leadership. They should answer the questions, "did they know he was a predator?, Did they have reason to believe he was a predator? and if either one is true than they should resign."
Deborah Price the number 4 Republican from Ohio said "anyone who was aware of these instant messages needs to take responsibility. Anybody who had knowledge of that needs to step down."

I agree, even as a conservative, that ANYONE with prior knowledge (Democrat, Republican, or other) should be removed if there was actual prior knowledge of the sexual content of the IM's.

Right now there is no evidence that there was knowledge of that content, though there was knowledge of the e-mails and that the family wanted the e-mails stopped. The e-mails, while a bit 'too friendly' were not sexual in nature.

There is suspicion on both sides that there was some prior knowledge. Some say Hastert was informed. Some now even say that some of the Dems had knowledge and were waiting til an opportune time to release it shortly before the election (in a ploy to try and win the election with a bombshell of information). Either would be unforgivable.

I heard today that the child may NOT have been a child,(and may have turned 18 shortly after the emails started). (The Instant Messages(IM'S) people seem to confuse with the EMAILS-they were two different things) when it was brought to the attention of the House. The page may have already turned 18 years, when he recieved the IM's, which is considered an adult. If that turns out to be the case, as sick as it is...NO law was broken. They will be releasing more info later. Just goes to show you..when you try to hang someone... you better make sure your rope insist rotten. It may come back and snap you in the face..
I think Foley is a pervert for writing that stuff to an 18 yr old too. But what does that have to do with Denny Hastert?
I get so sick of hearing the self-righteous garbage out of the Democrats who support Nambla.. and who had former Pres. Clinton pardon Rep Reynolds who had sex with more then one 16 yr old, and was to have it with a 15 yrs old ,but was caught. while serving in the House, also Sen. Studs who had sex with a male intern who was 17yrs,while serving and he was censured but never removed and served about 16 more years. The Democrats gave him a standing ovation on the Senate floor when he turned his back on the Senate while they censured him. Oh! did I mention they were ALL Democrats who committed these acts!. Then there is Ted Kennedy(a disgrace)..I guess in the Democratic party you can kill a young girl, if you have enough money to get off. Their moral objections to whether Denny Hastert should be removed for hearing..never seeing any emails..and being ask by the parents not to make it public, but asked that Foley to stop writing..(And Foley was told in NO Uncertain terms to Stop)) is hardly worthy of being removed from office.Hastert still knew nothing of the IM's. I think it is incredible they have the GULL to try to tear the Republican party apart with their LIES!!!It is SINFUL!

Funny...Another sex scandal...We have serious impeachable offenses by a president and derelection of duties, not to mention fraud, by members of Congress, and everyone yawns, but a little sex and everyone is up in arms.

The anybody who had knowledge of this statement by Deborah Price would cause probably the entire Republican membership of Congress to resign. It's a no go.

Hastert should resign for lying, but then what do we do to Bush for lying? Either they all go, or it's total hypocracy to make Hastert the fall guy. The thing is, there are probably many other Foley's in Congress--perverts who speak of family values but wouldn't know them from a hole in the ground. The whole barnyard of these people needs to be cleaned out and get a new bunch of idiots in there who will behave themselves for a few weeks before they do the same things, Republican or Democrat.

Doesn't this beg the question, "If it was known over a year or two ago, why didn't Tom Delay take action, since it was he who was House Speaker?" It wasn't Hastert's place to correct the situation. Only if he knew Foley was posing a morals threat by the emails. The IMs were only brought to light recently. The emails were nowhere near the intensity in sexual conotation, and may have not been overly thought of as immoral.

i think that, if the Republicans lose the homestead, you will see Hastert (and doubtless one or 2 others) renounce their management positions or get defeated while they run contained in the hot Congress. there is a few precedent for Hastert taking the Minority chief place - contained in the Forties and '50s, while administration swung extra between the events, Sam Rayburn (Dems) and Joseph Martin (GOP) alternated the speakership between them, with whoever's social gathering wasn't in capacity taking the Minority chief slot and all and sundry else in his social gathering's management shifting down a peg.

Yes Hastert and Boehner should resign since they haven't dealt with the Foley e-sex scandal when it first came to light two years ago. It was a cover-up of their own doing altogether!

Absolutely.

He knowingly left the fox in charge of the hen house. It is bad enough that Foley was coming on to 16-year-old pages and offering them alcohol, but to leave him as Chair of the Caucus for Missing and Exploited Children is unspeakable.

If Hastert speaks for the house, I say we need a new house.

No he shouldn't. Nobody knew Clinton was a predator either, so what can you do.

And why do you keep advertising your blog on here. It's terrible.
It's not only devoid of political insight, but its written from the perspective of an inexprerienced college kid. For your sake I hope you keep your day job.
