the Berlin wall was built to keep people from leaving. The Mex-American wall is designed to keep people from entering. It depends on who is building the wall.

The Berlin wall and this new wall that is going to be built on the border of Mexico and America are going to be in place for two very different purposes.
First I will discuss the Berlin Wall. The Berlin Wall was built to keep people from fleeing communist tyranny to the free world. There were armed guards stationed on top of this wall every so many feet with one set of orders, shoot and kill ANYONE (man, woman or child) caught trying to cross over from East Germany to West Germany.
The wall President Bush is trying to establish, first of all, isn't going to be long enough to accomplish what it is being built to accomplish, and that is to force those entering and leaving America to go through the proper channels, with the legal paper work and identification. No one will be shot and killed for illegally crossing, but they will be arrested and returned to their nation of origin. No ones constitutional rights are going to be infringed upon, because entering this country as a citizen from another country is not a legally protected right.
We ARE NOT over stretching our bounds by asking the people who enter and leave this country to do so in a legal and orderly fashion. We have the right to expect our laws to be followed, and to take the necessary steps in accordance with our laws and Constitution to see these laws are followed and accordingly enforced. The right to enter this country as a citizen from another country is not a Constitutionally protected or guaranteed right, and should not ever be considered one.

The Berlin wall was built to keep free people captive to the communist government. They could not escape their part of Berlin, or they'd be shot. The people were already citizen of Berlin..held against their will.
The equivalent would be if Legal American citizens were being kept out of America, Not illegal aliens who are not American citizens being told they can't come here because they are breaking the law by sneaking in.
The fence along the United States border is to keep people who are NOT citizens of the United States OUT because they are NOT going through proper channels. If they want to come here, they can..but they have to come legally.

They are different.
The Berlin Wall was in Europe. The Mex-American wall is in North America.
If you buy a map you will understand (a globe will suffice).

The disgrace is the hoards of illegal aliens flooding across the existing border to commit more crimes living and working here illegally.
That wall will be a blessing if it stops one illegal alien from getting in.

First, according to Gen. Patton, "Fix fortifications are a monument to man's stupidity." This wall is a fix fortification. Of course there is a difference between the Berlin Wall and the US Fence. It is our fence so it has to be good. ;)
