Only Two ? I seem to go through patches , some times 3-4 -5 in a week -- all hours, but I,m sure it,s these Bloody Random Call systems which just call anyone and when you answer it --- no one there -"Number Witheld" =*_+"$<><>^*

It is probably a marketing company using a multi-dial system. It dials lots of numbers for the sales person and the one that picks up first gets connected to the call, the others just end up hearing a drop-down like you have. They are really awful, my mum is getting on and lives alone and they really scared her as she thought someone was calling the house checking if she was in or not. You should try one of the numbers for stopping 'junk' phone calls (I know BT have one) - I registered myself and my mum online (sorry, can't remember where) for this and she no longer gets these calls and neither of us get those annoying calls from surveys or people trying to sell you alternative phone or internet packages etc etc.

I had about 20 calls in 3 hours a while back. It's a sales call center. A computer cycles through numbers which are automatically generated and then automatically dialed. if when you answer they have a free operator from their pool they will try and sell you something. If they don't, you will automatically get hung up on. You number usually gets flagged to try again until they eventually have someone free to speak to you.
This sucks!
When they eventually got through I had someone ask me "Is that ?" - Realising by the accent it was an Asian call centre who had been calling, I replied "No, you have the wrong number!" - Compeltely shut them up - they didn't know what to do or say..... and because they finally had someone free to try and sell to me my number wasn't tried again!

I have that often from 800 numbers. The phone company claims there is nothing they can do, the call rejection doesn't work for these number, so I report them to the national 'donotcall' registry (repeatedly). That has slowed things down.
These calls can cost the initiator up to $10,000 for each call.
BTW, calling these numbers back, they are always busy.

Yeah, you must complain to the phone carrier and start procedures to halt calls that offend or bother you. I am sure you are too busy for this childish behavior.
You don't really want this person to interact with you, so you don't want to talk to them. Just do the smart thing:
"Don't feed the fire, put them in check".
Nothing frustrates phone stalkers/callers more than doing nothing. Don't react, don't let on what you feel. That's what they are calling for:. a REACTION. Don't give them what they want.

You should get privacy director! It's a service from the phone company where anonymous numbers can't call your house without announcing who they are first! It'll tell the caller that you don't accept those calls- and then they can say their name THEN the phone will ring at your house.
I love it!! (It also helps with some sales calls too)

ITS MOST LIKELY SOMEONE YOU HAVEN'T PAID ON TIME!
If not them its the other pests in this market the ones ringing up to say things like we hear that your car insurance is due for renewal I'm sure that we can save you money.
I have an unlisted land-line and I still get these pests - my wife tells me not to be rude but sometimes you have no choice.
Personally I wish this was a hanging offence - it's certainly just about as offensive as it gets!

These types of calls are often done by automated computer systems to see what time of day people are in this info is then passed onto call centers so they know when to call to get a reply.

It maybe the automated marketing companies that send random calls to a number for a couple of days or so, and then it stops.
I used to get those calls, but they do go away.

It could be an automated dialling machine - a lot of the call centres use this technology. Get in contact with your Telephone company and report it as a nuisance call - they can track/trace and deal with it for you.
