Why ask for their number if you have no intention of calling?

Because knowing we have the power to call or not call feeds our ego.

And we know that if we do call right away, the all important power shift will move to your side and we can't handle that.

And we know that the longer we wait, the more interested in our call you will be.

And sometimes, depending on how he got your number, he may never have had any intentions of calling you, it just felt like the right thing to do.

It's not the fact that he hasn't called you that you should be questioning.

The guy probably just asked for your number because it was a natural progression that prevented an awkwardness. It's highly doubtful that he had intentions of calling you when he asked for your number in the first place.

It's nothing that he decides after he gets your number; it's something that he's already thinking about AS he is asking for your number.

Sorry.

They may change their mind - maybe they were caught up in the moment. Or they just asked to be polite.

I have a question of my own - I have had several situations where I'm chatting with a woman in a bar or otherwise, and she will give me her number. (I don't think I've ever asked - it's not my style.) She will insist that I call her. A few days, or a week, later I do call - and she seems upset that I am bothering her, or totally forgetful or dismissive about me. I didn't ask for her number, and I only called to not be the kind of guy you are talking about - and yet I get the brush off! It upsets me, but many times the woman DOES respond favorably. I just figure that the woman was being polite, or was a bit tipsy.

Oh well . . .

Several reasons...

One... if you appear too keen with a girl she will dump you, so blokes have learnt to be "cool" and keep her waiting... all very silly on both sides.

Two... Girls numbers, to some chaps, are the same as going dress shopping.. you try the dress, like it, buy it , then take it back to the shop. All very immature of the chaps to do it with people.

Three... They like to keep their options open by collecting phone numbers, so if one girl says "no" they can give someone else a call. A trick they learnt from the girls.

Four... They are getting it for another chap who fancies you, but knows that you wouldn't be seen talking to him, and in the hope of evading such a shallow response, they engage you in a conversation by phone.

They try to build up anticipation for the excitement factor of when he calls. But wait too long and the anticipation and want to the call-back goes away fast.

Guys think they're so smart.

Half of em are so drunk when they do take girls numbers that they have no idea what they could be calling - they'd be petrified to call in case they had their beer goggles on that night and what they thought was a super model could turn out to be a minger!!!!

They usually wait a couple of days because they don't wanna seem to pushy or desperate. Just wait, or next time, try asking them for their number as well.

It is all part of the dating game. If my friends and I had a dollar for every time we gave out our numbers when we were single, we'd be independently wealthy.

Usually they have someone to hide or they thought about it and changed their mined. Next time, to avoid this happening, YOU ASK FOR THEIR NUMBER. If they won't give then they ain't about nothing.

I am one of those guys who chicken out. I admit it. I need the girl to make the first move - even when I know she likes me. Explains why I am single though...
