I have read some answers to the question "Do native Hawaiians hate tourists?" and I was floored how rude tourists can be! What is the matter with these people that they'd be so rude?

I dunno about the fact that mainlanders feel superior of the dark skin. I mean, that's one of the finer points of going to Hawai'i....to brown up!

I live in Hawaii and am about an eighth of Hawaiian, and the rest I'm just filipino, chinese, and caucasian. The tourists can be a pain in the a$$ a lot, but there are also those who do respect our culture and the people of Hawaii. So to answer your questeeon, those tourists what's wrong with those tourists is that they see us Hawaiians as inferior to them. Some people still believe and have a stereotype of being lazy and stupid. I hate those types of tourists. There are also those who just act stupid and disrespect our culture. I'm not saying that all tourists that come to Hawaii are bad, but the bad ones do piss me off.

The rudeness is on both sides. I was stationed at Peal Harbor and lived there for three years. The locals did not like the haolis (mainlanders). Some haolis were beaten up by locals. Hawaiians are proud of their heritage. On the other hand, mainlanders travel there, see dark-skinned people and perhaps feel superior to them. For that matter, many Americans travel overseas and play the superior game. That is why we are called the "ugly American."

American tourists are loud and rude everywhere they go, that's why all other countries hate us so much, so don't take too much offense. I think people tend to think "I'm on vacation. The normal rules don't apply. I can behave however I want." Plus, with Hawaii people usually spend a lot of money to go so they have this sense of entitlement when they get there, like they are owned something because it cost so much. I worked and lived around the world and quickly learned how to speak with a Scottish accent because even I could tell how rude American tourists are! -- P.S. English tourists are rude everywhere too, and often even louder so again don't take it personal.

Tip to the Americans - If are not loud & rude when you travel, sew a Canadian flag on your bag or jacket. You'll be treated like royalty :-)

I try my best to treat the people who live on Oahu, with the utmost respect (treat others as you would like to be treated). All though, quite a few teenager's from the mainland are quite rude, loud, boisterous (like u said, they "are on vacation") and tend to be the rude obnoxious teenagers as they are at home!!
How would you like to have people come to where u live and "act a fool"???????????
I am from the mainland. And have visited Oahu, Hi six times and love it there!!

You can't imagine what some tourists -mostly English - do in Crete and Rhodes! (Go around naked, get drunk and vomit everywhere, etc). I think some people who live in a state that tries to look civilised, but are deep down barbarians, find the opportunity to show their oppressed selves in the holidays.

i in my opinion agree extra with Jean-Jacques Rousseau philosophy. We as human beings have the flexibility to place adjustments aside and artwork for the extra beneficial sturdy of mankind- that has been proved time and time returned. regrettably what additionally have been proved is that we are in a position to additionally be petty and egocentric in our needs, that could and has carry approximately great evil. Society as an entire is a contributing factor to this habit- this would be a me society. So on a similar time as Hobbes sentiment is genuine as properly, it is likewise inherently incorrect. by announcing human beings are evil this is a generalization consistent with undesirable human beings and activities. I firmly have faith that we are in a position to all learn how to artwork jointly and get alongside, in basic terms from time to time looking that center floor would be confusing.
