When my sons were ages four and two, they tore up a coloring book in their room and set it on fire on the carpet. We were asleep and I smelled the smoke and got up. When I discovered what was happening I put the fire out and they were crying and blaming one another for the mishap. I blistered their butts and told them if they ever pick up a lighter or matches again I would cut their hands off and they believed me, it never happened again, of course I wouldn't of cut their hands, but it put quite a scare in us. They are grown now, and thinking back that was the only time they really done anything bad.

Every child is didn't what works for one may not work for the other.
I have 2 boys 19 &14 the oldest seemed to always get in trouble cause he couldn't keep quite & just take the punishment, the youngest keep quite took the punishment & was done with it.
The worst they have done together is lie to me about where they was going. But the punishment was worth it to them.
My worst experence was when my oldest tried to steal something when he was 13, He was grounded 3 months and his friend that was with him was also grounded from coming over for 3 months. He was not aloud to have company, or to leave the yard with out me. It was hard on me as well but he never done it again.
I really consider myself lucky that my kids don't do some of the other things kids do, it could have been worse.

When my daughter was about 18 months or so she just hauled off and bit me for no reason. I smacked her mouth (just a love tap) and my husband got really upset. He said I should've spanked her bottom and I proceeded to tell him she didn't bite me with her bottom. You know she never bit anybody again.
When she was 3 she flushed a toy down the toilet and it got stuck in the trap. We couldn't get it out without breaking the bowl so we ended up having to put in a whole new toilet. I don't even remember punishing her it was such a hassle to install the toilet, I'm sure my incessant screaming was enough because she never did anything like that again either. Aside from that she's been a pretty good kid.

My kid was failing math in the 7th grade. I pd a tutor good money 2 pull up the grade. Report cards were due when I hired the tutor, and the better grade would appear on the following report. My daughter walks in, show me the report card. I knew she was 2 fail math, I had no idea she was failing "GYM". I yelled how n the world could u fail 2 play? She told me, my teacher told us if our parents hit us for failing a class we should call the police.I had no intentions on hitting her. I never hit 1 of my kids for failing. I p/u the phone, called the police & told them I was going to knock her out. I advised them 2 come & get me. The Sgt told me 2 give the phone 2 my daughter. He told her if ur mother see fit to punish you in that way , so be it. We have better things 2 do. She was shocked at his resp, and the teacher was reprimanded. She was punished 4 2 wks. From then on she had straight A's in school. She just enrolled in college.

My child stole $20 from my purse. I realized it right after she got on the bus. Her dad and I went to the school (8th grade at the time) and had her called to the office. We asked her to empty her pockets and got the money back. We thought the humiliation would work. It didn't. We should have called the police. We wouldn't have pressed charges, of course, but she would have gotten a more realistic expectation of what would happen to her had this been someone else.

I have 2 children. the older one is 10 years old. The biggest problem with her has been lying. It does not matter, it can be big lies, or little ones. She has stolen from me. It has been one thing after another. The solution was to take all rules away and make her fend for herself. We are not completely in the clear yet, but doing much better.

I probally was about 6 years old then, and was helping myself to a bucket of single-wrapped bubble gum in a small grocery store as my parents was shopping. Dad caught me going for another peice and gave me a good spanking with his hand right in the store. I never took anything from any display since then! This was back in the 70's, so he didn't get in trouble for spanking me in public as people do now.

my stepbrothers, who are 12 and 13 have both been arrested multiple times for hitting teachers at their school, and the older brother actually has 3 violent felonies pending in court. the felonies are for hitting a teacher, strangeling one, both had marks, and bruises left on them , and the other felonie was false imprisonment, he kept the teacher in the room where he was, not allowing her to leave. so peoples kids cant be as bad as my stepbrothers.
