My 4 yr-old nephew has speech problems but was put on a waiting list for pre-K. I have read a lot of posts saying that the school district would evaluate and provide resouces if necessary. My sis-in-law asked her school district and they said they didn't know what she was talking about and would research it. I was wanting to find some info for her to show them; she doesn't have a computer.

They live in Tarrant County, Arlington, Texas

Call the actual school, or the department of child development in your area. Head start is a good place to start for direction. Theres also the department of education for your state or county.

You can also call Dr's offices and ask about speech therapy and where its offered.

Usually school districts have websites with links that provide resources for such programs as speech, learning disabilities, specail education, etc. But if you have problems finding such resources through the school district, try a state or private agency that handles speech problems.

You may also want to check with your church, or ask around for such help. They usually give you the best advice.

Good luck, and we'll be praying for you!

Talk to the peditrician. He should be able to help.

Do they have parents as teachers there? Sign up for that, if they do. My daughter has been with parents as teachers since she's been 3 months old.

The school district should be able to provide some form of speech therapy.
