Of course. What else could it be? Plus, nobody likes being wrong. And nobody especially likes knowing that they're wrong, their parents were wrong, their parents parents were wrong, etc. That's a little hard for some folks to swallow. Plus, the Church will be out of business the day everyone realizes they've been being duped for the last 1,000 years.

Creationists will believe scientific information only if it meets their own needs. They will pick and choose what they will allow that community to tell them. They will go to a doctor to be cured of something however they believe that their God gives them nothing that they cannot take. That He looks out for their every need. They tell others to pray for their hardships and ills, that it is because of godless lives that they are in that position yet, they will be the first to run to a doctor, a lawyer, an accountant, the police, quote the rules of something, and twist a bible verse to make a point. They are of course scared that since they cannot prove the existence of creation as it is in the bible, they don't want anyone proving anything to the contrary.

No, they are scared of evolution debunking what's left of the Bible that they can hold as 'truth'.
One of the main things that evolution cancels out is the idea of Original Sin, if mankind did not descend from Adam & Eve then they are not tainted because of Eve's actions and therefore do no need to find redemption in Jesus Christ. This is what scares them.

They're scared that properly proven evolutionary evidence detracts from their deluded belief in god, so have to try to subvert thing by making up false hypothesis for us all being created.
EDIT
Nice to see friendshipring, yet again, proving my hypothesis that believers are unable to make a reasoned argument without posting discredited scripture.

Creationists are scared in case their vast edifice of dogma is brought tumbling down about their ears by some irrefutable scientific facts.

WITHOUT CHRIST THERE IS INCOMPLETE HAPPINESS. The soul of man needs nurture and only God completes that part of the puzzle with the touch of the HOLY SPIRIT.
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" Romans 3:23
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:9-10
