That would be their choice.
What would you do if your son/daughter told you they were gay?

I would love and accept my son's choice, if that's what made him feel special, and loved. But, I do my best to fill that void for him. He knows his father and I think he is special and is loved very much. So, I doubt he will feel the need to be a sky pixie worshiper anytime soon. He has been to church with his grandparents, and has already made up his mind about what he believes at the age of 12. I have not led him into atheism, he found it all by himself by deductive reasoning.

My son has done just that and I said OK. He knows what I believe but I've never tried to persuade him one way or the other. I also believed in my early years but then logic and intelligence won out over superstition and fantasy.

If my son/daughter became an Atheist I probably wouldn't approve but I would still love them. But I wouldn't say they're going to hell.

why should i be bothered? i would like my child to be educated in all the religions and cultures in the world, so that they will make their own mind up on how things work. i will not impose my beliefs on the child, but i will let them known. i wish to raise an intelligent, indipendent no-nonsense child...i bet he'll figure it out by the age of 6.

nothing. They have a right to believe in whatever they wish. We don't force our beliefs on our children the way christians do.

Answer any questions they have and help them find resources for what I couldn't answer. I would encourage them to research the concept, as well as other religious ideas.

let them believe, assuming your child wants to believe and there is a god and the only way to prevent eternal damnation is to accept that god and you convince you son to adhere to your atheistic values and thus condemn you son to an eternity of suffering, are you going to feel good?

I would say great, I am glad you have found something that makes you happy. Just know that I will never push my beliefs on you, and I expect you to never push yours on me, but I would be happy to have amicable discussions with you about our beliefs.

"AAARRRGGG! Foiled again by Religion!" Let the cursing, whinning, slanderous speech, disembodied moaning, and out right denial begin!
