Hi all, I cooked a lovely Chilli Con Carne last night and had half left over, it was too warm to put in the fridge so I put some cling film over it and left it on the side(yesterday 6.30pm). It will be still on the when I get home tonight. Can I reheat this lovely food and eat it without getting food poisoning?

It's never "too warm" to put in the fridge. For your cooked food to be safe from harmful bacteria, it needs to stay 40 degrees or below Fahrenheit, or 140 degrees or above Fahrenheit. Never let cooked food or leftovers sit out until it cools off to be placed in the fridge -- you're placing yourself at risk for food poisoning.

Generally speaking, food should not be left out for more than two hours without refrigeration. Once left out for two hours or more, I'd throw it out to be safe. Next time, put the leftovers straight in the fridge!

Maybe if it wasn't very hot where you live. Bring it to a boil though for a few minutes, anything walking around in there would be killed, cooked, and edible.

Old wives's tale that you can't put hot food into the frig, by the way. If you want to protect the plastic shelf, put the hot container on a plate and then in the frig. It will soon cool down, with no problems to the other food in the frig.

Are you kidding? Like, is this truly a intense question? I recommend come on. If that's said as 'nutrition Dye" then i'm particular from there that's particularly self-explanitory. yet, to respond to your question... definite, that's fit for human consumption haha.

My rule is it's ok uless it smells funky or has new stuff growing on it. But i have a pretty strong stomach, depends on how likely you are to sh!t you *** off afterwards. Have some immodium or ****-u-bung at hand to be on the safe side.

I wouldn't eat it. Risk is to great. Throw it out. If you have never had food poisoning, believe me you don't want it. You can die from food poisoning. Next time let it cool then cover and refrig.

As long as you make sure it is heated all the way through to burn off anything nasty!

Unless it has been an exceptionally hot during the day, it will be fine.

Yes there will be no problem with it as it was wrapped up and not open to the elements. Usually tastes better second time around too.

It sucks, but no. I left some roast out the other night. I hate throwing it away, but it's just not worth the explosive diarrhea that will most likely follow

If you heat it properly it should be all right, as long as you haven't left it near anything warm, and has been left in a cool place

It depends on the temperature in your house. If your house is warm then you risk food poisening, if your house is cool tho there is very little risk for one day.
