Now, don't go into a hissy fit. I'm a Christian. But I found this list of contradictions interesting. Take a look. Can we believe any of it? LOL

Barb K - I'm a Christian, not brain dead. God didn't give me a brain and expect me to not use it. Lighten up. Did you READ the list? Rather than 'shooting the messenger,' why not address the listing?

Ok, I read some of it. But don't you think what IS true feels true? The goodness and faith we are to have for God is so apparent in certain verses in the bible "Love thy neighbor as thyself" Now think to yourself ~ IF WE ALL WERE CAPABLE OF THAT, how much would this earth RULE!? :o] "Wives submit to your husbands, husbands love your wives as you love yourself" The LOVE ~ is so clear to me!
What you found is non-believers turning things around ~ and let's keep in mind that MAN has passed down the bible for centuries so it makes sense that some of man's evil and views had been included ~ but not God's. God's way all the way ~ I love God, God bless, you sound nice and curious ~ this is why He made us!

Well, you just discovered why some of us left the faith. I was Christian for many years and even preached sermons from the pulpit as a lay minister off and on for about 24.
Some of that list is not contradictions, but verses taken out of context and a closer study reveals what is meant, however there are contradictions and discrepincies in the bible to the point that to justify these things Christian have developed what I call "PAT" answers. When I say something is a pat answer, I mean that it is a generally accepted answer most christians from all demoninations use to explain something the bible does not explain. I will not go into the pat answers for questions, but to give you and idea of what I mean I will give a sample or two of some questions that have a "Pat" answer.
When Cain killed Able and God cast him out to wander the earth, Cain was afraid someone would kill him. this story can be found in Genisis chapter 4. The question is if Adam and Eve were the only people on earth and thes children listed in the bible were their only ones as recorded, Who would be inhabiting the earth at that time in history to kill Cain? There is a pat answer for this.
Another one is Who created God? Another pat answer.
I just got tired of facing questions that did not have a thus sayeth the Lord and book chapter and verse. I also would get discouraged everytime I read the Old Testiment.
The whole bible is ful of warnings to keep the word and not add to or take away from the scriptures and if you do you are not right with God and an evil does. It aslo demands strict obedience to these things telling us to keep "ALL" of these things. However there are example after example in the Old Testement where Patriarchs, Judges and the kings of Isreal would lead Isreal astray and then God would raise a man or woman up to lead his people out of the worship of pagans, and the bible will tell how great the person was and then add things like however this person kept worshiping Baal, or did other things that God expressly forbid and claimed he would destroy the people but overlooked.
All these things add up and since I tried to obey everything God commanded and my beliefs were bering attacked everyday by people in other churches and I had to defend my beleifs from other believers on a daily basis and it finally got to the point that people even in my own belief system was challenging me, I decided that it was not worth it, and I could no longer overlook the very open errors and contridictions and discrepensies. So I left the Christian faith and am now a solitary Wiccan. I no longer have to debate my beliefs with anyone and those who would constantly attack me and try to convert me over to their church leave me alone now when they find I am Wiccan. That is amazing in and of itself because you would think that as a Christian these other "Christians" would just be happy to find another believer and try to convert the non believer such as pagans and Wiccans.
I hear some pagans say they get preached all a lot, but I no longer experience that. The preachy pushy people leave me alone now.

You better believe it - it's in the bible!
The bible has many contradictions.
It was written over an extended period of time, by a large variety of authors. Then translated, edited, and variously mangled by religions to fit their own ends.
It just doesn't hold up under any scrutiny, either as a work of fiction or fact.
There's another link below with some good information...

As Christians, we are given the Holy Ghost to help us understand the Bible. I am not one of those Christians that go around saying the Bible is the literal word of God. It is close, but it was written by humans. They are going to make mistakes, that is what humans do. Also, through years of translations, etc... we have lost a lot of the original. However, God is a pretty smart guy, and has blessed us with His Holy Spirit to help us understand what it is that we are to understand. He says if we ask, He will answer. So there are contradictions and mistakes, but that doesn't mean we are without hope in understanding what is or isn't the message God wants us to get from it.

There are so many contradictions because its just a collection of books of evolving mythology over the course of about 1000 years.
If you can accept that that's all the Bible is, it becomes very easy to understand what the various writers were writing about in historical context.

I once asked if the Bible was about the duality of man... such stupid resposes that I just deleted the question...
Yeah - Love/Pray for your enemies or Kill them mercilessly... Bible will support you either way...
Pretty much gives you free reign to do almost whatever you want with some kind of support. I think we all pick what we want the most, and right now we're at war.
There's the nature of man for ya.

With anything that says evil bible should tell you that someone who does not believe in God looks for anything they can to disprove God. I have seen alot of questions from people saying if God was so loving why did he have all these people killed. God brought quick judgment on sin in the Old Test. God also was out to protect the line in which Jesus was to come forth in. Then the site quotes from the wrong bible.
