Not necessary but nice. the gift would depend on the age of the child. If it's a baby, a small toy or something pretty for the baby's room. An older child might like a new Bible or a piece of jewelry like a cross neckless. A card is nice to get. take them out to lunch. check with the parents to see what they are doing. I also like the idea of a nice bookmark for the Bibles the already have (if they have one or maybe the parents are giving them one)

If you are invited then yes you should be a gift. Does not need to be anything big but a keepsake is always nice. If it is a girl that is being baptized I like to get a plaque for the wall with the poem "Why god made little girls", there is also ones for boys too. A lot of stores have a section of gifts perfect for the occasion. Try a christian bookstore as their selection is usually larger.

I would say that a small gift would be appropriate for baptism. Either that or a bit of money that the parents can put into a savings account for later on. Typical baby gifts would be something silver - for a baptism, a cross. Or a rattle. You could also have something engraved with the child's initials or name and baptism date as a special keepsake.

Yes a gift is necessary for a baptism, the best gift ideas I can give you are these: a childs bible or roseary or money. Those ar the usual gifts that people give. You can get a childs bible at any book store, and rosearies you'd have to go to a religious store, or you could all so get a baby cross neckless. those are my suggestions.

My family is Irish Catholic so it is for us. Baptism, depending on the church is very sacred...it is the child's introduction to the presence of God and the church family.
You can give cash....your gift should depend on if you're eating a meal with them and how many people you are taking to consume said meal....it isn't like a wedding, but if you have 4 teenage kids coming, I'd give $50...otherwise $25 is a respectable amount.
If you are REALLY close to the family you could give a religious keepsake, but you get so much of that stuff.
You could also get a children's devotional Bible....Zondervan makes them....Little Boys with Daddy, Little Boys with Mommy...same for little girls. It would be a awhile, but my son got one and we use it now that he is four. It has Bible Stories and discussion ideas.
As always, if there is only one older sibling, I like to bring a cheap big brother/sister....the world hasn't forgotten you gift.

I'm a god mother to 5 children.......as a god mother.....YES you definitely have to buy something obviously and you spend more the closer you are to the child.
If you are a guest at the baptism....you don't have to get anything religious........you can give money........or just buy a nice frame that sames Baptism or Christening on it.....or you can buy a tube to hold their baptismal certificate.......
I have a bought a rosary and a pink or blue New Testament from Hallmark and they also have Precious Moments Collectible Bible....
and other precious moments figurines....have a lot of baptism themes as well.
Hope that helps!

Yes, bring a gift for the baby's baptism. It's nice to get something religious-related - a picture, ceramic, photo frame, prayer book, etc.

yes it is necessary...usually i go to the bank and get a bond for the baby...you will need a social security # for the baby...but thats the best gift....the gift that keeps on giving..it acrues interest for the child for when they get older.

No.
But if you are one of the godparents, i would suggest something... Try to find a christian store near your and they should have a section for baptism.
I am a godparent, and I have the little baby a cross for her room and a "baby bible".
Good luck.
