Don't bother with a double stroller. They are hard to push and nearly impossible to steer! If you feel your four year old still needs a stroller, get him an umbrella stroller that is inexpensive, takes up little space, and he can push himself if he decides he wants to walk instead.

I would think the 4 year old should be able to walk on his own. I'd kick the bog boy out of the stroller and use it for the baby. My step son wont be in a stroller or anything like that when the new babies come. I'm pregnant and his mother is pregnant also...He's gotta be a big brother now!

Personally I wouldn't get a double stroller and if you do I wouldn't get the ones that are side be side, because they are not as manuveurable (sp) as the others. If you are going to be by yourself a lot, then the tandem stroller might be a wise investment. For your newborn you probably want a combination Car Seat/Carrier/Stroller. I would just pack an umbrella stroller for your soon to be four year old. Assuming you have someone else to push it. It's easy and convenient, and doesn't take up a lot of room. That way you won't be hamper by the larger stroller or have to worry with him wanting in and out of the other one while your infant is sleeping.

I agree, I wouldn't spend the money on a double stroller. You want him to be in the big brother mode, and treating him like he's on equal footing with a baby will have him acting that way - the last thing you want with a newborn to take care of. On the other hand, there will be times when it's appropriate for him to ride, because come on, he is only 4, and there will be times that you and your spouse will be out together on those long walk occassions. get a wagon for those occassions. because he's a 'big boy', he gets to ride in the wagon and doesn't have to ride in the stroller.
finally, for practical reasons, by the time you use the stroller much (you won't the first months the baby is around), your little guy will be almost in kindergarden so the number of times to use the double stroller (which is a hassle) will be minimal.

I've read all the other responses so I think I'll be in the minority here. My sisters has kids ages 3 and 5. She keeps them in a stroller just to keep them contained. Without the stroller these kids would be down the street without looking back once. With them securely in the stroller she can keep control of the situation. I guess it depends on the type of kids you have.

Try a sit and stand stroller, it will allow your older child to stand on a platform behind his sibling. Or there are attachable roller boards that allow the same thing only they just attach to your regular stroller. I found both on ebay while looking for a double stroller and if my oldest was a bit older i would have opted for one or the other.

I think it would depend on the amount of walking you do. If you do a lot of walking as in more than most people than invest in one would be more than worth it.
The other option to save some money is to invest in a 2nd hand one.
Are you intending on having a third child? Maybe the double stroller will come in more handy than you think??

I would not get the double stroller. Your son is too old for a stroller and should be able to walk on his own.

Heck no!
Let the boy walk! Children should be walking, not getting fat and lazy in a stroller. Strollers are fine, for babies.

No, he can walk on his own now. Double strollers are very expensive and you would just be wasting your money.
