I am rational and objective - but I follow Jesus Christ and Him alone - not religion - a relationship. So very different. Blessings to you.

A rational person wouldn't follow doctrines blindly, that's for sure. Though, I believe, everyone follows some type of doctrine... even scientists.

No. I believe that a rational & objective person should know that they are hopelessly lost & undone without God or His Son. I believe such a rational & objective person should upon realizing his depraved situation, would fall upon his knees, and repent his sins, and ask Jesus to come in to his life, and be his Savior, and LORD !

a rational and objective person knows that religion is their own personal choice and so they decide whether they want to follow a doctrine or not. so i guess i do not agree with your staement since it is my rational and objective choice.

I must have quoted this phrase by Buddha a dozen times on here but the common sense of it can't be denied-"keep the meaning forget the words". If a doctrine has meaning to you use it-if it doesn't conform to your sense of logic discard it.

I think everyone should look around them and become aware of what the world is about. If it comforts people to believe that there is a God watching over them who will make things right in the last analysis or when the "chips are down", then why shouldn't they?

I follow Jesus. What would you look to by looking beyond them? So I don't agree with looking beyond if I don't know what to kook for.

any one has the right and privilege to follow their heart and do what
they deem best for themselves as long as the laws rules and mores of the culture and society are adhered to. one has to respect the rights and free will of others and as long as these are followed all should work out fine.

All doctrines are bits of truth crystalized into deadness. Truth must grow .The "living God " is the source of truth and it is also alive.
