It has been suggested that when a person is in desert survival or surrounded by salt water and devoid of drinking water that the person must resort to drinking his own urine if it is the only liquid available. This technique has been said to extend life from one to two extra days

As far as drinking urine if you're in the desert, I wonder just how much urine you'd have in conditions of dehydration. Since urine has salts in it, I'd think that you'd increase the speed of dehydration if you drank your own urine (assuming you had any) and thus shorten rather than extend your life. It would be better to eat some catcus, or dig down and hope to find some wet sand you could suck on.
But why stop at drinking your own urine in an emergency? You should think about drinking your urine all the time because of its therapeutic and life-extending properties. Over two thousand years ago, during the Roman Empire, there used to be a common urinal trough where people would both contribute and consume. It's been said that drinking urine can cure just about any ailment you have. An Indian Prime Minister (Desai) used to drink his own urine daily because he believed it extended his life (and many Indian Yogis believe he same thing). Gandhi drank his own urine, as did the famous Jim Morrison, Steve McQueen, and John Lennon. Check it out.

Yes you can! In fact there is an alternate medicinal therapy which suggest that drinking one's urine in the morning (first urine of the day) is medicinal and if done over a continued period can heal many ailments and keeps BP, blood sugar and cholestrol under control. Yes, you can...it will keep you alive a bit longer, but eventually will be too concentrated to rehydrate you.
Without any water you can survive about 3-4 days......prably double if you drink urine but would get kidney probs sooner!

urine is completely sterile until it has been in the air a while so i guess if u were stuck yes you could drink yours or if you were up to it or a little short yourself someone elses.

If your in a desert you go to a catus, dig two holes one on each side of the catus. You take off your shirt and put it in hole number 1 and pee on it. The pee goes through the shirt and passes through to the other side of the catus where the other hole is and you will have clean drinking water. The catus acts like a filter. Thats how is done
