I cannot do justice to such a question here. I own several Art History books, and you should read them. Basically, 1500 is the Late Renaissance. Then came the Baroque and Roccoco periods. There was a rise and then a decline in this period in the skill of artists.

Are you asking about art in the US during the period from 1500 to 1763? If so, you may wish to first check U S and world histroy books, and review that Columbus is credited with discovering teh western hemisphere lands only in 1492. There wasn't a US until after 1776, some 13 years after your period in question.
American art during the 1500s was essentially native art, pottery, carvings, petroglyphs and rock pictographs. Any art during the exploratory and colonial periods of N. America were strongly influenced by the nations of origin of the settlers.
Your question is very vague, and reflects a lack of planning and preparation on your part in asking the question. I suggest you read your history books, and research early American art if that is actually your subject of inquiry.

Art significant changes took place from 1500 to 1763 in Europe.
During Renaissance (which started from Italy on 1401) instead of religional subjects the ineterest turned to the human being which was considered to be the center of the world.
The society gave value to the artist's name which appeared on his works meanwhile in the past the artist was anonymous.
During 15th and 16th century a movement called humanism appeared and the artists started studying the classic archetypes and values. Ancient sculpture and architecture were promoted and statues and buildings were constructed based on the classic archetypes.
Medici (a Florence aristocratic family) financed the artists in order to create enormous works based on mythology. This tension expanded to Venezia and Rome.
The priority was given to the beauty and the harmony of each work. Brunelleschi, Botticelli, Michelangelo are a few of the important artists of this period until 1525.
Technically , the correct lines of the pictures (the design) was the most important point upon which an artist would be judged (Florence school)
Later the most important point would be the color (Venezian school).
In Holland it was discovered the oil painting by Jan van Eyck.
On the 16th century the priority was given to painting the nature by Dounavis School.
1525-1600 A new type of painture appeared called ''manierism''
17th century ''Baroque'' style in architecture and painture
18th century ''Rococo'' style in architecture and furniture
Unfortunatelly the information for all these styles are too many therefore it is too difficult to explain here each style.
Concluding i would say that this period was the richest art period which placed the basis of what we call today ''modernism''. During these years a lot of progress has been made as we saw above to the development of new techniques.
All these changes differed from place to place dute to different social and political conditions.
For what concerns U.S. I have not studied these periods but I know that architecture for example was influenced by classic buidlings of the antiquity.
Hope to have been of your assistance.

Art was a pretty nice guy in 1500, but something happened along the way. First, he started drinking a bit too heavily. I know he had his heartbroken, but he shouldn't have turned to the bottle too hard. Second, something bad happened in 1598 on a trip to Cancun, but he never really spoke about it. He got a little mean after that. When Art passed away in 1763, he had alienated most of his friends and lived in a van down by the river, drinking heavily and muttering to himself all the time.

Pretty witty Bill
In 1500 art was still largely overseen by religious factions, as well as being largely supported by them.
Anyone wanting to create for public consumption pretty much had to be sanctioned and supported by some Church or religious leader.
The good news in the art world since the first cave paintin is that ART,, or rather the passion it involves, cannot be controlled. Certainly many have starved for expressing opinions through art that went against a majority.

Well. Shortly after that period we had the Royal Society and the Royal Academy start up in the UK, which had a dramatic effect on styles. Before that, most art was quite literal.

The earlier art was well defined structured.
Later the entry of modern art changed all. It is left to the imagination of the viewers :-)
